Parents with no respect for other people
So I go downstairs to fetch something from my car and find these kids playing cricket INSIDE my building's parking. I mean, it's not like there are no cars parked there, the parking is actually full and these kids are using a real cricket ball! I mean, c'mon! Don't the parents of these kids teach them any respect for other people's properties?
This is a tough one, yes its annoying as they may damage cars but i agree with Gypsy, the kids have absolutely no where to play, parks are limited and you have to drive there, and also the heat doesnt help, its too hot to be outdoors. It would be nice if they were given the basement where ever possible to play...Kids are kids, they dont do these things to annoy adults they just want somewhere to play..
Encourage the kids to play in another area...a lil' further away from your car...more towards their parents car...show them the exact spot...pretend to be more involved...encourage them...after a few days...break a tail-light of their parents car...the cricket will stop automatically.
i guess just grab the ball and dump it..it's a statement....
"fear not the dead...but the ghost of your past"
U should start playing badmintion at the same place where they play cricket. Just walk in between their game.. speak nothing about your car and car parking.. Kids can be rebelious.. the same way i spray painted my neighbours car when i was kid as he did not like me playing cricket in the parking area..lol.. Occupy the ground before they come in or park your car in such a way where they cannot play.. Although i object to this, as kids who indulge in sports use their energy in a positive manner.. we must encourage sports.. Speak to them politely and tell them to play else where.. try the kind method.. if that does not work.. come back again and say you failed.. I am sure there is way to get rid of pesty kids.... lol. Cheers

Tobyson, LOL.
Fatcat........Im not scared of yer scratches....I'll chase you away! There are no trees to climb out here...and u sure cant cimb a palm tree.......lol.........DOUBLE GRRRRRRRRR
Fatcat I'm not sure where you're from, cause I don't bother checking profiles, but playing in car parks and the street is pretty common for most children, especially those from crowded Asian cities. To me it's no more disrespectful then playing in someone's back yard or the street where you could easily hit a window with a stray baseball or puck. Kids are kids, and even if there parents do teach them manners, they still don't think about consrquences all the time.

Gypsy, my street is pretty tame : )
Tobyson, I can stratch back, lol, hisssssss.
FAT CAT............GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR....BOW WOW...WOW....RUFF....WOOF WOOF.........GRRRRRRRRR.....BOW WOW WOW WOW....GRRRRRRRRR
Have you seen the way people drive in these street??? The only place for these kids to play outside is parking lots.

Gypsy, they are more than welcome to play on the streets, but not inside someone else's building's parking lot! That's just disrespectful. They have a parking lot in their own building anyway, but they choose to come to mine.
Kids play hockey right next to my car, doesn't bother me. Unfortunately kids here don't have things like backyards or parks to go play cricket or sports in. Also where I'm from playing sports in the street is pretty much par for the course.

Tobyson, why should I spend money on kids I don't know? I don't think so!
Buy them a chessboard, monopoly or scrabble...give them other options!
Well, it was not was not merely an assumption, Fatcat, it was purely logical. And please stop using words like 'stupid' and 'a.s' and so on, even I never use it in my posts as long as possible. Again if my remarks have offended you in any manner, my apology....so shall I rest my case now? And all the best to you in solving the problem with minimum hassle...

Shreeya, have you heard that assume means making an a.s of your and me?
; )
Is that so? Since yesterday I have seen many hate threads like about Indians, Filipinos and so on...So I thought this one is also started on the same note...Well, glad that at least some people from some nationalities just don't generalize things.
And for those playing near your car , just give them a spank on buts as we Indians do. Sometimes action speaks louder than words.

Shreeya, perhaps you don't know English, but some nationals of some countries means only some people from some countries, not all the people. There is no generalisation here.
its about manners and its high time we dump our village style in our home countries. We face this problem back home
when widow panes are broken, cars are smashed. Too many Ronaldos and sachin tendular's . Play your sport at right place. We stupid Asians and I repeat Again STUPID ASIANS even damage gardens with our sport
even kids playing street cricket becomes a nationality issue in here...i am out..byee shreeya and someonenew...
cheers
This is the forum just to discuss about NATIONALITY
and its 'SHREEYA' ...'Y' on your keyboard is not working it seems....

Fatcat didn't mention at first the nationality, did she? which means she was talking about kids in general. It was after she was asked that she mentioned nationality...
Get of your high horse and read what has been written. You are instigating things here!
Bakamuna... when they see an oppurtunity they go for it. Yes. But if they know why they shudnt play in a parking lot they wont. The problem is the parents dont tell them why they shudnt play in a parking lot. They just tell them not to.

Eco i never said that fatcat is leaving in villege..i said that we were not banned from competing ne sporting events like many countries in this world.. coming from a country like that i can understand the hate for sports
Korly, Thanks - My last comment to Shreeva is even more valid now.
I obliged if I have offended you...but see you told the nationality and in your next post you just passed the comment about nationalities...so it is obvious about whom you are talking to....

Sreeva, you comment to Bakamuna is quite interesting, you admit there is a problem, and it is an attitude problem, and yes if Indians are not changing their attitude it will create more Hatred
for fear that Shreeya will attack me also, but that should give you sufficient hint;-)
someonenew and shreeya yes but kids love to play and even if they are brought up like you said, when they see an oppertunity they go for it.
Shreeya, who labeled the whole community??? Gosh, just read the posts before you write down stupid comments.
Vignale i agree with your worries ok but dont u think the glasses of your car is meaningless if we compare it with the childrens
i would like to c them growing same time i can play with them and as friends we can share thoughts
Korly and what nationality where these man playing Cricket then ?
Bakamuna...if kids understand that they are not supposed to do something they wont do it...Its upto yheir parents to make them understand that their not supposed to play in parking lots.
I dream of a better tomorrow where Chickens can cross the Road without having their motives questioned - Unknown
I understand all this Bakamuna and I know how much Indians as well as Srilankans are obsessive with cricket. The thing I really don't understand is why should you label the whole community? Instead of solving the pbms this can only lead to more hatred....

If they are asked not to do it why would they come back??
Unfortunately it's up to us to teach them manners & respect.
Shreeva, why do you not see that it is a patterns - is it because you don't see that there are differences in respect from Nationality to Nationality ?
if i knew the location i would be playing with my team tmrw lolz and i have many nationalities in my team...and thank god i was not banned for so many years from sports...
Shreeya, please show me where I generalised anything. I did not say they were disrespectful because they were Indians. I said they were disrespectful. Period. Then in another reply, after being asked what nationality they are, I stated the fact that they were Indian. And on my next thread I said some nationals of some countries seem to be more disrespectful than others. You clearly didn't read properly before writing down your comment.
a friend of mine lives in an apartment building where the tenents are all single adult men and woman, no kids, and she came down one morning and found the men playing cricket next to the parked cars too.
She had a hair-raising fit, as you can imagine.
Jalva, the point is that Playing in the Compound next to Cars could easily damage them- Even you must understand that
shreeya..how much fatcat trys to chase them away, they would comeback again for a match tmrw..
Like in all other matters of life, there are good and bad parents of any nationality. The kids parents as individuals should be told rationally about the folly of their kids.
i like your subject head.... it always the parents to blame fer how the kids behave ...kids are innocent ... they don't understand value and sh*t like that.... its parents who have to teach em.... n sadly parents these days ... well most of em ain't doing a good job .....
Fatcat...children are children irrespective of the nationality tag they have on them. Surely these ones you have mentioned are irresponsible and their parents are also careless must be. But why are you again just generalizing the whole community as having a 'lack of respect pattern'?
[img_assist|nid=52086|title=Life is never boring, but some people choose to be bored.... Boredom is a choice. - Wayne W. Dyer|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
Vignale i i suppose u r like child and i am sure i will not mind if u will play in my compound
I totally agree with you FatCat, we all see it. You got my 100% support
We have kids on our compound left alone all day with their maid and would you believe the maid too comes from another planet?! So image what these kids get up to with zero supersion. Common sence is taught at home, but if nobody is home what do you expect. If I were you put them straight, especially if it means you have talk to their parents or they will persist even if they damage something..
so children playing in frnt of you are a international prblem lolzzzzzzzzzz
vignale its got nothing to do with nationality. seriously. I know coz i'm indian and i was brought up in Doha. We used to get grounded if we played in the parking lot coz it was dangerous and we were tiny...
But there were a lot of open spaces near our compound and all of us used to play cricken or whatever out there.
Bakamuna.. I'm talkin abt kids in general. Would you allow ur kids to play with a real leather cricket ball? We used to play with everyone in the locality-arabs, pakistanis, bangladeshis, filipino, etc... we had a huge gang wen we were kids in Doha...
I dream of a better tomorrow where Chickens can cross the Road without having their motives questioned - Unknown
they would comeback ....taking away bats would make them do some bowling practice in front of your car lolz
THey are smart and totally without respect, their parents probably told them NOT to play outside their own building.. Yuo did the right think chasing them away, they knew they were wrong. PEople saying something else are in denial. And I was not surprised which nationality they were.
jalva, it's just that some nationals of some countries seem to show a pattern of lack of respect for others.
Someone new i realy apriciate your thoughts
Nationality does not teach you how to play.it is just the way how we handle the problem
i thought if i can play with them ,any how i can solve my problem, even it is created by them but i want to child an dwant to respect them
then fatcat should go and advice the parents lolzz...
Someone new..did you mean arabic..arabic kids dnt play cricket lolz
if you are going to chase them away,..they would do it more and more thats all i have to say
Yeah fatcat do that and when their parents come to complain and take their bats back(which i'm sure they will..) give them a piece of ur mind
I dream of a better tomorrow where Chickens can cross the Road without having their motives questioned - Unknown
Ecco-savvy, I wish I had thought of that when I caught them! If they come back, I'm confiscating their bats.
Its not fatcat's responsibility to advice some arbid kids... I think their parents should tell them to go play somewhere else! I donno how their parents could get them a real cricket ball... Even grown ups sometimes use a tennis ball to play! Its very dangerous!
I dream of a better tomorrow where Chickens can cross the Road without having their motives questioned - Unknown
They can play as much as they want, but not in a parking full of cars. Why don't they play in their own building's parking? I think I forgot to mention they actually live in the building accross the street, not in mine. And, on their way out, they had this bucket that they were leaving behind. I made them carry it out and they probably scratched the car parking on the street.
parents are too busy watching Deccan chargers or King X1 on TV, kids are practically playing.
Well I woould take the bats away and throw the ball in garbage.
Now only ill mannered ppl will defend these kids cos it reminds them of their childhood days
you teach them manners or not is your problem but kids are going to be kids and chasing them away is not so good, sure you need to guard your car 24hrs a day...
LOVE to children u will start playing cricket with them
Vignale, they were Indian.
Bakamuna, I'm not going to teach other people's children good manners. But I did chase them away.
Obviousely not! Do unto others as you would have them do unto you..
kids are always going to act like kids, thats what they are suppose to do,as a grown up you could have given some advice
I think it is a sympthom of the world we are living in, unfortunately I see children of certain nationalities with less respect than others.
May I ask what nationality these Kids are ?
