Any advise on residency ties? Can my family stick around Canada?

First impressions "not so great" but it's only been three weeks and I've had to adjust to a lot of change..weather, dust, crazy drivers, etc. On the plus side, everyone has been very friendly and nice from the guy at the gas station who helped me find my bearings when I got horribly turned around and lost to the lovely Qatari gentleman who helped me back out of a very tight parking spot after some jerk pinned me in with his huge SUV. I think it's going to be fine...message me if you have particulars and I will try to answer them...I have to say QL has been a lifesaver for me with such good information readily available.

Cheers,

Molly

Your kids/wife can stay in Canada but you and your wife need a legal separation to be exempt from taxes. I saw a tax lawyer to help me with my legalities before I moved here and have rec'd a letter from CRA saying I was granted ex-pat status and would only be paying taxes on my income for the first three months of this year (before I moved here). There's some really good info on their website as well. Hope htis helps.

Cheers,

Molly
