Relocating to Doha - Need a Villa and a Car
Hi everyone, we're relocating to Doha with my husband's company and planning to be in country by mid-June.
His housing allowance is roughly 25,000 rials a month and for vehicle - about 2800 rials.
What does this exactly buy us in terms of a villa and an SUV for the kids?
It appears (what I've read & heard) that all the good schools are in West Bay? Is this true? Our son is almost 2 and a half.
Any assistance would be appreciated! We're less than a month away and realtors never respond to us or take weeks to send us listings (ReMax & Century 21).

Depending of what type of school you are looking for. I don't know what your nationality is, so if you are looking for an Indian school I cannot help but good English schools are the American school and Doha Collage (UK system) which are both neer Al Waab area. DESS is also a good English school. However I don't think you will be able to find space in any of these schools for next year which is starting in September 2008.
There are a lot of nice compounds in Al Waab area, very nice area to stay in.
with 25k i guess you could even live near to emirs room. just kidding. west bay is your best option because it has the most "city-feel" place in qatar if you are looking for one. There are also so many good and cozy compounds near khalifa stadium like bevery hills. See you soon in doha!!!

25000 Qr is enough for renting luxiliary villa in doha . you can save this amount by renting good flat in amount of 10000 Qr ( 2 bed rooms , kitched , hall , Toilet)
2800Qr is good for car allowance , you may need to buy car in doha . I can help you once you reach doha and get good car .
for kids education , many school are available in doha , some of them follow usa education like shouwfat International school ( sabis system ) which is located in west bay area and some school follow Uk system like Gulf English School which is located in Gharafa area .

with 25K you get a proper villa in a nice Compound.
2.8K for Car it pays for installments for a Large SUV(Chevy Tahoe etc) or a Up-Model Car
With QR 25.000 for housing allowance can get you a place in good compound.
Good school for american curriculumn is American School of Doha (ASD) and for English curriculum is Doha EnglishSpeakign School (DESS). Depend on your preference. Both school are hard to get in. For DESS they wont even take your application if you dont have English passport (so i heard).
QR 2800 for vehicle will enough to pay for SUV type of car installment.
