Occupational Safety comes under the Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs, State of Qatar. The officers from this ministry conduct regular inspections in construction sites here.

Generally, safety awareness and application seems to be lacking in Qatar (I stand corrected on this point) perhaps its due to the sudden surge of the construction industry in Qatar as a whole. The legislation and enforcements are lagging as a result of the sheer pace of development.

Many construction companies here are either ignorant, oblivious or apathetic towards issues of safety and that's rather worrying.

Since I land in Qatar... Poor safety standards everywhere that you go. From a big project to a small shop.

One of the biggest problem here is that there is no Goverment Office for safety Issues and if there is one guess what they will say...

Those are all accidents WAITING to happen!!

Sad really that some people are forced to work and live like that....there should be no excuse for it in this day and age!

Stay safe all.

Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
