Facebook freakout - beware!!
I have a Facebook account, but under a nickname that is only known to family and close friends.
Last night I got a notification from somebody I do not know or recognise. Attached to the (fairly explicit) message was their full body photo, face and all, STANDING NEXT TO MY CAR in Villagio parking lot.
HTF does this stranger know my nickname, or is this just a horrible coincidence??? The message is insufficiently offensive to report to CID, but the implication is clear to a westerner. Too freaky....
how did i forget about it?? of course.. you can only see the name of the person, and his/her friends, which are also only the names...
so Grantley it's either one of your friends, or coincidence,...
Oryx... ok.. do not post the provocative pics on FB , and you will be out of trouble.. .. I hope the fact of being on FB is not a crime.. even Bill Gates is there with all his great world Microsoft team.. so???.. if some freaking company thinks it's a shame to be on FB... well... I wouldn't join this company myself...

There was a big thing about it on the BBC....how people had got into trouble at work/uni because of a picture etc on facebook

are you serious? Companies scope you out on facebook b4 interview?? and why do they do that? to see what? My picturies?

This is disgusting - isn't there a computer whizz who can source the sender....
Don't call it a prank/joke etc.
It isn't funny it is scary and worrying. Someone is following this person, taking photos, hacking their computer and writing obsence messages
If it were me my alarm bells would be like a fire engine.
Make sure you are not in Qatar or other network,that's the way people can see your information even if they know you or not.Dont post personal information like phone numbers,compound,etc... if you have posted pictures of your car make sure as well the licesense is not visible.But the basic thing to do is not to be in any network.I did the same when I had request from some locals,making comments in my pictures and sending me friends requests...I was in qatar net but when I found out about the nets,I changed my status to the NONE network,and now only friends and family can get to my profile.

that's why I posted, to get feedback about how it could have happened.
All my friends are back home, and the message was certainly not one that my wife or small children would write...

if you're100% sure only close friends and family have the ID, then I would suggest that one of your close friends is playing a trick on you.
if it's not that, and you are still 100% sure about the friends/family part, then maybe your computer has a worm/virus.
