THE Cabinet yesterday approved a draft law, organising the entry and exit of foreigners, their residence and sponsorship.
The draft law was then referred to the Advisory Council.

Just a joke such a report in the Gulf Times not worth reading, as this was promised to take place in January and nothing has happened until now.

Plenty has happened with the rent law they produced - now there are more gansters in the Real Estate business that we were ever aware of before we are being threatened and ripped off more.

i agree with Alicat that ppl r talking about this since i came Qatar before 11 years...but there were no news in newspapers or in medias....now i have little hope...something is going to happen...And ofcourse, if will affect only BAD AND GREEDY EMPLOYERS....who are more in Qatar.....just treating the human beings as slaves..

This has been ongoing for years......... Don't hold your breath.......

This has been in the news for over 10 years.

It does not suit the 'powers' to really change anything too drastic regarding the sponsorship law.

Could you imagine the carnage if it was more or less scrapped?

This is what 'they' don't want - at the end of the day 'good employers' would not have a problem with things changing. Unfortunately here in Qatar there are far too many 'bad employers' who are scared they might actually have to compete for their labour force by offering them more money and decent packages.

Mmmm we will see how long this all takes and in what form it will take......
