For the current situation change 60% of your water and make sure you clean your filter completely and then follow the below:

* Change 25% of your water every week

* Calculate the length of each fish (in inches) and add it up and then make sure it is less than the Gallon volume of the tank (For example;5 fishes of 5 inches each would make 25 inches; so your tank should not be less than 25 gallons)

* Use AZOO Tank Auto filtration Liquid (2 Bottles in one pack for chemical and Bio filtration) It really helps, Available from a shop called Golden Fish in Najma and maybe elsewhere too.

Have 2 Tanks with Big Oscars, 1 foot Catfish, Angel fishes amd lots of live plants, and 2 kid mollies.

And you dont need an external filter, even with builtin filters you can maintain your tank in best conditions.

it is called an external filter and available in many brands...if you ask the shop guy for an external filter he will show you. otherwise type "aquarium external filter" in google search images and you'll know how it looks.

ohk !! first of all i'll check that filter you are talking about ... but please tell me what the filter called , means what is the actuall name to call ??

as you have explained then the problem is too many fish ....try adding a good corner filter, but that will need regular cleaning.... if you can afford buy an external filter that will give you some ease. its a bit expensive but worth it....otherwise try to shift the goldfish into another aquarium....

and don't worry, you will learn with experience and have fun. try reading books and take help from the internet.

no there are not too much gravel/stones on the filter that it might stop working ... I'have checked that ..

first of all you have too many fish! goldfish makes the water dirty very soon if you feed them too much. and yes undergravel filters do work fine for 2-3 months. try changing the water more frequently. give less food(little bit 2 times daily) and if the problem remains that means your undergravel filter is blocked or the circulation of water is not well through the filter.

 and as keem said that you might have put too many gravel on the filter.....

I feed them only myself means its only under my control , not everybody patroll around and worried about to feed them ,, so let me make you clear that only myself do feed them .... and other thing is that feeding time is only ONE in 24 hrs ,, just in the morning "same time"

nO , not really but infact there are not much stones on the base to cover the filter as much that it may stop working , so I think this is not the reason , but as MR. Afaque said " fishes are bit more"...so  I admit the number of fishes are quiet more

yeah , gold fish , cat fish , small baby shark " just look like shark only " , and others ... MIX

Do you use a lot of stone in top of the filter?

The sales man of a FISH SHOP ... this base filter will help you in keeping your tank clean for 3-4 months , but I observed he is quite funny , as my tank become damn cloudy in just 12-15 days ,,, huh !!

well, 20 fish are a bit more for the size you mentioned, and if they are gold fish then way too much. undergravel filters work really well but may be you are feeding them too much or the filter is not working  properly...

What fishes you have and how many times do you feed them.

well Thanx for your repliessss ... ahh! there are 20 fishes and the size is normal as 1 & half foot in hieght and 2 & half foot  in width ....and the filter m using is BASE FILTER , the filter which is fixed under the stones and i have installed one seperate filter "small one" .... that's it !!

I hope you have a good working filter in the aquarium. Also this clouding can occur if there are too many fishes for the size of your tank. There a solution called AQuaclear available at the fish shops , a few drops can coagulate the dirt and the filter will remove it.

Also you can change the water partially..like half the tank.
