Saudi Arabia - Al Khafji City

By bigfoot

Hello all,

I have been offered a job in Saudi Arabia.  I have been asked to work in Khafji during my contract.

I was offered 65000 per month Saudi Rial inclusive - Married status.  Is this a  good offer?

I have to find accomodation.  Any advice.  What about in Al Khafi?I would like to take my wife there.  She is a registered nurse.

Any advice is most appreciated.

Many thanks

Bigfoot,

Welcome to Khafji (P*****N)

Khafji is a very silent place about a 350 km from Bahrain, 300 km from Al-khobar, 290 km from Dammam, & 150 km from Jubail.

Kuwait border is just a 20 km away from Khafji. Most of the individuals who are getting a huge salary like you are living in Kuwait (Mangaf/ Fahaheel which is just about 70-90 km from Khafji)

Living cost in Khafji is relatively low.

Spacious Villas (3BHK)are available from 1800 to 2500 SR.

There is an Indian school in Khafji apart from KFC & Pizza Hut.

Regards

Ratso, thanks for the advice.

It seems that you know of Khafji. If so let me know a bit about it

I found responses from Alexa extremely helpful and if Alexa does not know of answers to any questions posted on this site, Alexa suggests other sites.

Any advice and help appreciated.

I think that the theme for Qatarliving is a great one and all who joined it do help as much as they can and make it what it is. such information worths itsweight in gols, which is massive.

Many thanks

u should not have accepted the offer without going there and checking the place...

for myself, being a non-practicing muslim, I would never live in any parts of KSA even if they have tripled my salary here in qatar.

good luck...

Sometime ago you drop a line to my request for info on living in Khafji, KSA.

I am off to Khafji in the next couple of weeks

Are you aware of any blog like the Qatarliving where I can log on and look at current info for Expat living in that part of the KSA, I like know whether I should only bring Dollar or Rials or both, favourable exchange rate in the UK or KSA

I am going to stay in Khafji for a little while until my wife joins me then we will look at the current situation and then may go to live in Kuwait City

Try to contact someone working in Khafji etc etc

Many thanks

isn't a lot in South Kuwait.

I worked in the neutral zone for a time and you would probably be better off in Khafji.

Mina Zoor (the name may have changed) was the biggest town in the neutral zone. I use "biggest" loosely.

Thank you very much for all your very helpful comments.

I think that you all are quite right in saying that AL Khafji is a small place and that my wife and kids will be bored to death.

The plan is to live in Kuwait near the border to Alkhafji, in say places like . Messillah, Salwa, Al Zahra and Mishref.

Any one has any information about these places or know of some one.  Any info about accomodation in these area, may be site addresses for a few Estate Agents etc

I grant it that it would be a tad more expensive but at least my family would be a bit more comfortable.

I very much to look forwrad to hearing from you all

Many thanks

I think that maybe because its a small place thats why the salary is so good cos there's nothing there! I know that to get into Saudi hospitals as a nurse is a pain in the neck! I'm not sure that a nurses salary will be too good there either.....

to the Iraqi border.

It's in the Kuwait/Saudi neutral zone. Many of the supplies for Iraq in the Iran war went in through Khafji and up through Kuwait to Iraq

is unstable. Being close to both kuwaiti & iraqi borders, i saw in a special at aljazeera once that "arab" insurgents cross to iraq through there. Most of its inhabitants are Bedouins. so, i'm guessing less interference with committee of virtue (mutaween). Unless you find a closed westerner compound . My advice don't go

Should ask the Qatar army what it's like.

It was the site of their biggest victory over the Iraqis

The salary is good, but saudi law is very strict regarding a lot of things. accomodation is very cheap compared to qatar. not as expensive as qatar in other stuff as well.
