Visa for Canadian Citizen
By amerjavedcpa •
When people move to Qatar -- do they move their with a work visa of a specific duration (2, 3, 4 etc years) or is it an open ended visa with no expiry date? What sort of pressures exist for localization in offices (localization = hiring of qatari citizens) -- are you guys seeing foreigners being asked to leave their posts in favor of locals?
Once sponsored by your company, your visit visa will be switched to a Residency permit, which will have to be renewed every couple of years.....your family can be sponsored by you to get them a residency permit as well. YOu need an RP for stuff like opening a bank account here, drivers license, etc...
Qatarization is encouraged, so if a local CAN do your job, you may well be replaced.
Good luck, and stay safe.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
It's a rule that when a local (qatari) apply for a post held by expat, the last one will be either downgraded or terminated, depending of the will of the company. WTME! About the visa, you'll be issuued a visit visa (arranged by your company) and once here you'll apply for Resident Permit (kind of working visa).
