Now that is indeed a melting moment...for you to see your girl, grow up...and talk...

Well, good to see you still keep a check on different posts...amidst all the QL Warming that is going around...

O yes, my family is doing great, parents are quite happy that I settled for finally in a permanent job and now they are getting a bit more relaxed...next on the cards is to find a girl for the bells of warning (wedding) to siren...Lol  !!!

I would surely want to see the little princess and the way she is talkin and walking...it always is a good treat to watch...even if you arent a parent...

Take care of her mate, talking can be alright, cos people dont understand her even if she reveals the secrets of the house...but walking, you might want to keep an extra eye on her so she doesnt run into any troubles...

We are just fine thanks bud...the little darling is now walkign and starting to blabber a few words here and there....man kids just melt your heart eh?

How's your family doing? All is well i hope?

Yeah its a busy time for us at work, but I try and still find some time to log on and post every now and then

Sorry for the quick hijack but I couldn't resist saying hello to a friend.

Stay safe all.

Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?

@ Ragnarock...R: Hey there buddy, morning to you how you doing and ofcourse hows your little princess doing...I must say that is one of the best replies I have ever seen on this forum for this kinda question...It did impress me...Tad on the lower side...thats a good and honest statement...

Having said that...hows life keeping you these days buddy...

@ Toronto: Hey there mate, evening to you (I Presume its evening for you)...well as suggested that salary might find you on the little ...tiny whiny...little lower side for a family (again I presume you are a family and not single)...again House is as adviced by a lot...is on the lower scale...a good place would take you upto atleast 1000 - 1500 more, ( that would be elect + water) but then this is where your other costs start like groc, telecommunications and stuff like that, ultimately it all comes down to the way you spend...so ya, that should leave you with a fair bit...overall, it is still a reasonably decent offer, by the way, what do you stand in the market as (Qualifications, and Position and Experience that you would up for)...

Ragnarock Raider

It really depends on your qualifications/experience/job description, etc...

But it strikes me as a tad on the low side.....not UNACCEPTABLY low...but just a little low.

That's just my quick take on it....but in the end, YOU have to decide....can you live with such an offer....what is your spending like......savings goals...alternatives...etc....

Whatever you decide.....good luck.

Stay safe.

thank you all  fro such an important feedback. So i guess with 7kQr as a home rent i am on the edge ,chances are low to get a good 2 bed furnished apartment.

by the way what does furnished means in qatar?

what about hydro? gass? internet? phone? grocery? specialy with family of three.

Also i dont have much idea about the range of salary in qatar. If any one of you can give me a little idea about this i will appriciate.

thanks

Dan

We've got a nice 2bedroom flat for 7k in old airport area.  It's nice, friendly atmosphere, neighbourly place, safe to walk around (the girls don't get stared at) and it feels a lot more "real" than living in a compound.  Don't get me wrong, some compounds are really nice and I can see the benefits, but a 7k 2BR in old airport, where you can walk to shops is great.

mate you need to get more for accomodation.. 7 is just too low for a good flat here now...period.

My personal advice is to try and negociate a larger housing allowance as 7K for a Fully Furnished 2 B/R flat is on the low side.

Qatar itself is tiny (especially if you compare it to Toronto)...but the kicker is traffic....no matter where you live, so it won't matter much (unless you can slip out to work ahad of the morning rush hours).

Anyways, best of luck with your move to Qatar.

Stay safe.

Najma, Mansoura, Mugalina, Old Salata, Mattar Khadeem are one of the best residential places in Doha.  You can get a two bedrom flat, fully furnished, for around QR.7,000-8,000.

the first 3 yrs in doha we took the housing allo as the company accomodation were all full and the amt given was insufficient hence we had to fork out fr our own pocket. for the 3 yrs we used QR108K of our own money for rental now dont make the same mistake we made. try to insist on company accomodation instead.....saves the hassles and yr money.

good morning toronto guy, i feel tis better for the company to provide with accomodation than you taking the housing allo. reason being yes when you arrive yes you may get by but wat happens when the landlord decides to up the rental tremendously, are you gonna fork out fr yr pocket??now taking the allowance is alright if you are gonna 'make money' out of it meaning lets say you are gonna be able to save fr it. there are ppl here who do take the housing allo because they were just gonna rent a room fr the villa hence in yr case lets say you get QR7k and the room would prolly cost QR2-3K and voila the rest is yr for the taking. so there you have to really think wat is it that would be suitable for you. rentals here in doha is extremely high unless you are extremely lucky to get a reasonably priced accomodation else ask the company for accomodation instead.gl

I forgot to mention as said by NOVITA, BIN MAHMOUD is a nice area too having lot of apartments in there.

I know some staying in there for Qr.5500/- for two bedroom furnished apartments. However, their contracts are getting expired in a couple of months & no idea how much they are going to be raised.

Hi

No worries, feel free, I have seen a lot of QL ads. that fits in your budget near by salwa. Its still morning in here, Wait for the other QLer's to respond too, they might suggest you the best options.

You can prefer AL SADD, MATAR KADEEM(airport area), MUNTAZA, HILAL, NAJMA areas, all of them lie within the city limit. Just a 10 mins drive would do for SALWA from these areas.

Rents vary depending on places. The more you are on outskirts, the more lesser the rents.

Traffic congestion is always there ,  But still you can survive once you get familiar with the alternative routes.

Novita some one told me having rent allowance is a good idea instead of accommodation from company... I also believe in your idea. I should have accommodation from company. I can talk to my employer on this but I would like to make sure first which one is good idea having allowance or accommodation from company. What if company gives me apartment in an area which is not good area or something....? Please advise...

Torontoguy ... BinMahmoud area have alot of flats ... and it is not too far from your place. Mind you traffic in Salwa Road / Ramada junction is chaos in the morning. I always avoid that area during peak hours.

Can't you ask the company to give you an apartment instead an allowance? That way save you all the headache and hassle with the rent increase.

Good day & hope you are doing well.

I dont think you will find a furnished apartment for Qr.7000/-,  decent two bedroom furnished apartment starts from Qr.8000+. Housing scenario is worst here in Doha.

Regarding un furnished apartment its good idea that you just make one time investment on your furnishings. But still you need to be lucky enough to find a decent one with nominal rent inspite of the high inflation & artificial rent hike by the greedy landlords and middle agents.

Best of luck.

Hi Novita,

My worke place is close to the intersection of Salawa road and Al Bustan street. Mercedes showroom is close by.

But i will be working in the field most of the time so any place close to down town will be good or any good residential area. By the way what are conditions for driving in Doha?Is it normaly very busy in the morning and evening???

Thanks

Dan
