Hello, I just found out that the first company has sent me a business visa & not a work permit visa.

Now the question arises the second company can issue a work permit visa? I guess or they may also issue a business visa that I'm not aware of at this time.

In view of the above based on say both the companies first & second have sent a business visa am in a sitaution that I can select between the above.

Thanks

Hello Prettiecattie

Thanks for your detailed information. Please forward e-mail address of former employer.

I am basically a project manager for security & life safety systems, i.e., managing complex integrated network fire alarm systems/IP-CCTV/Access Control Systems/BMS. I don't have any clue of salary in Qatar.

Thanks again.

ok.. agree to you but on my opinion and my husbands opinion it is really a small offer for a project manager. if qatar2 had an experienced on the job why take that offer?.. it better to look for another company who will provide a good salary..

the company where i came from the project manager.. is getting like 34k QAR, a villa of amounting 23k QAR with swimingpool and a garden, 4wd which is nissan aramada.. plus bonuses and medical plus family is here..

i dont know maybe it depends with the company..

friendly advice qatar2.. you still have lot of chance to find for a good company which offers a good compensation.. pm me i will give you the eamil address of my previous employer.. mybe they will need aconstruction manager now.

Prettie Cattie: your computation is very wrong he is a westener.. so most probably he

spend more than that.. the offer is to small for a project manager

specially hi s canadian..

That was your comment. You implied that the offer is too small especially since he was Canadian. There could be only two ways of looking at it:

1. You are implying that Canadians deserve more than the others because of some reason. or

2. You are just stating the fact that this is the prevalent scenario in Qatar, that Canadians are offered more than the others.

I take it that it is the second case. Let us make peace.

In any case I believe that the offer is a little low. It also depends on the nature of the work. Project Manager is a little vague term. If it is management of a low-value project then the salaries are bound to be a litle on the lower side.

Hi Qatar2, negotiate harder. Looking at what is happening in the west - job sheddings in the US and so on - negotiate carefully and don't let it go out of hand.

Prettiecattie: the offer is too small for a project manager specially hi s canadian..

I wonder if Canadians manage projects differently. :) I can't imagine how Canada scores high in project management. I even checked the top 50 business schools in the world. I can't figure one from Canada.

If a Canadian lives more than 182 days abroad, they are eligible to apply for non-resident status (but they have to let their drivers licence, medicare cards, and stuff like that expire...also they have to have all property in Canada not available for immediate use, ie rented to a non related party)...if they do apply for this status, then they pay taxes in the country they DO reside in (if it happens to be a place like Qatar, where there is no income tax, then they are set).

Hope that helps.

Answers to your questions are as below:

1) Around QR.2,500-3,000 on the higher side for a family of husband and wife plus two children. (Also depends on how do you spend)

2) Around QR.8,000-10,000 per month.

3) Around QR.1,000/- (QR.500 for W&E & QR.500 for Telephone)

4) Around QR.1,000/- (on an average) per month in a reasonably good school.

5) Miscellaneous - QR.1,000 per month

Based on the above, you can have saving of around QR.15,000 per month

Should you require any further clarification, please let me know.
