better to fill for a specific sum than trying for a full tank.

Something I haven't experienced in Qatar but it may not mean it is not practiced. You'd rather be convinced yourself had you personally checked the reading that time.

I am rather cautious about the extra pouring these guys do when the tank is full just to make-up a round figure. Technically the extra pouring doesn't go to your vehicle once it reaches full capacity but it goes back to the filling station and we pay for it. Not many of us are aware of this.

I have come across situations, these guys, despite not focusing, keep on pouring extra and further extra till the toll comes to a round-figure. I tried explaining the cycle of extra cost (to which we gain zero value) to them but they refused to get convinced. Some even made of fun of it. So be it and here I am, not wasting extra, not wasting time, no hassle with these guys, I pay a sum upfront to fill when the pointer reaches a level. Everyone is happy.

By the way, for those sympathisers, you may very well show the gratitudeness by handing them extra riyals if you wish, something grateful but not under the disguise of your negligence.

it is not a matter of cost, it is the cheating habit that must be removed...

they always do that, you gave them 100QR and then give you a change with 50QR less...

why not damn everyone.... the one who fills and the one who goes to fill...

I have never had this problem, but then I always park so that I can see the meter. And if I couldn't do that and was suspicious, I would drag my fat ar5e out of the car and take a look.

The worst petrol station is the Teyseer in B-ring road, opposite Capitol police or Oasis Rent a Car. These pump boys are the worst in Doha. First, they are very ill-bred, no manners or impolite. Second, most of them are cheaters. I encountered several times that they will not return your change when they think you don't mind. Sometimes short change you. Like, if your bill is just QR35, and you give them QR100, they will just short change you with QR15 only. It's annoying I always have to remind these pump boys. Sometimes as mentioned above, you have your gas tank filled with QR40 as full tank, as I always fill in some gas station, but here I have to pay QR50 or QR55. I'm not sure, maybe their stations are not properly calibrated.

Lastly, these pump/filling boys are the laziest I have known in Doha. Some of them are just chatting, taking there time while the line is 5 to 6 cars along.

I have enough of these rude pump boys!!! To all who have read this, I warn you don't ever fill your car here, and if you don't want your days ruined!!!

a common problem some years ago.

Best thing is to stand and watch the meter.

Be careful to check the meter and sometimes...

these guys use the hose on the opposite side which makes

it impossible for you to see sitting in your car.

Its always better to ask them for the bill

It has happened, but as Paul R, i didn't bother. But I avoid the one guy that does it. I don't mind giving them up to the nearest 10 and it is a little bit anoying when he helps himself.

These boys make such poor money, so if he makes a few Riyals at my expense I'm not bothered. Normally my car costs 62 Riyals to fill and I always give them 70.

I dont think its deliberate.

Could be the boy was new or some genuine mistake, as the pump pops out of the car-tank due to the gas pressure inside the tank, and so the guy must have thought its full.

The best thing is to ask them to fill for 5QR or 15QR or 20Qr so  the guy punches in or whatever & you dont have to wait for change.

It fill for 20QR which is good for around 200-250 kms (depending upon the speed). And top it to full when ever  I expect long runs or venture into unknown terrority.

and the best things to do is fill up gas after every 2 days with 20 riyas or so .

By anonymous• 6 Mar 2008 09:14

Don't be paranoid. It will never happen here.

By anonymous• 6 Mar 2008 09:11

No, I never had any such experience too...

I don't think they can also do any thing like that, if you have any doubt demand for bill and later invisitigate on it with manager.

the biggest problem i have is that i only need about 30 to 40 riyals to fill my tank... so i tell them to please fill the tank with 40 riyal... or until full...

so they try to push all 40 riyal into the tank... even if the pump keeps stopping... they just keep on trying to put more in... next thing i know ... there trying to wash the gas off the side of the car...

but for the most part... they have been pretty good to me
