Doha - Accommodatio and meeting new people

Hi All

I will have a stopover in Doha and decided to spend a few days there from the 12th - 18th of may. Now I have 2 problems...

1) Accommodation: I hate the big, expensive hotels...I would much rather sleep on a sofa :) So, is there a hostel in Doha, or people who rent a bed or a room for a few days?

2) How to meet people in Doha? Don't want to spend the 6 days all on my own...

I'm 28 years old, Swiss, sporty, outgoing, funny and interested in the world. I travelled to Asia and Australia 4 years ago...would love to spend some time with nice people in Qatar as well :)

I'd help you out and let you stay at my place but I'm currently at my father's house while mine is being renovated. (hopefully will be done by the time you arrive though)
