CDS, DVDs, Books
Hi everone,
First of all I would like to thanks those who have spent a part of their own time answering the questions that I posed on QL. I think that QL is a fantastic forum for those like me who is trying to find out a bit about the area that I might end up working for a while. Many thanks indeed!
There is another question that I wonder I could get some help with. I have lots of CDs, DVDs that I am intending to bring with me in my luggage.
Would this be an issue at the Airport?
Any thought?
Many thanks
Bigfoot
I had 1000 CD's and 900 DVD's shipped over when I arrived. Customs looked at them but did not do anything else.
Although my DVD's were of highly questionable nature as far as Qatar is concerned , I wasn't bothered at the X-ray machine of doom!
Keeping your CD's and DVD's in a case will lessen the chances of some enterprising young officer to find fault with any objectionable jacket.
I heard the same thing before I came here, but have since brought lots of DVDs and CDs into Qatar (as have friends and family on my behalf) and I've never had a problem. Always just breezed through security.
We removed all our DVD's from thier cases and just put them in a CD/DVD carring case, one so they wouldnt take up to much room and two because they are less likly to go through them if they are not in cases. The second thing is and i hate to sound racists but it does come down to the colour of your skin at this end of customs the whiter you are the less likly you will be hassled over anything in your bags. Just dont bring alcohol in anyway shape or form because if they find it theyll go through everything.
You will have to keep it in a sepparate bag or something so it will be easy to get to. they might take it and watch to see if it is aloud in the country.... regarding the law and so forth...
So keeop it where you can reach it easily.
Don't bring anything sexual, political etc in the country.
I have no experience with this, this is just what i heard.
