Drive against Danish goods in Qatar over reprinting cartoons

Doha: Local Arabic daily Al Sharq has launched a campaign for the boycott of
Danish products, following the reprinting of the caricatures of Prophet Mohammad
(PBUH) last week.
Al Sharq has responded to a call by Sunni scholar Yousuf Al Qaradawi, who in
his Friday sermon asked Muslims to express their anger in a non-violent way.
"We are overwhelmed by telephone calls and e-mails from our readers who want
a boycott of Danish products and their comments will be published daily in our
pages," Abdul Muttalib, deputy editor of Al Sharq, told Gulf News on
Tuesday.
"Many people are protesting over the inaction of the Islamic governments,"
said a statement posted in the newspaper's website.
Since Friday the daily has also urged readers to sign an online petition on
www.thepetitionsite.com requesting the popular Wikipedia website to remove the
caricatures of the Prophet (PBUH).
At the time, Al Qaradawi's appeal to boycott Danish products was followed by
many retailers across the Gulf countries for several months.
A Danish company exporting dairy products to the region estimated its losses
in almost $100 millions (Dh367 million).

Music is amazing especially when sen and listened to live if you are able to get leeds festival tickets i suggest going its a great festival.
Andrew please justify ur claims
U say urself that muslims are percieved
Please underline percieve
If the cartoons is a response to what the peace loving danes percieve
Then god forbid what other nations are capable of.
It hurts everytime i see Jesus being made fun of
Hollywood churns out such movies all the time
Do u want Muslims to turn into hypocritical images of what the majority of christians have become?
My mother always told me such movies are not good since Jesus is seen as one of the most respected apostle of God
[img_assist|nid=53425|title=c|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
I see many justifying the cartoons because of all the people muslims killed in the west (slaughtered to be exact)
Where was i when this happened
Please give examples if what ur saying is the truth
More people must be killed by ligthenings then by muslims
Are u guys all having a identity crisis
i guess speed was very clear when he posted this thread
He addressed all muslim brothers and sisters
If u aint one of us - Please BACK OFF

I don't know about you or your religion ! but If you are a Muslim and you called Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) an ordinary man is a shame ... He was not an ordinary man like us. He was a human Being but not ordinary human being like us ...
He is a Messenger of Allah and if you translate the Kalam of Islam, it cleary states that "And Mohammad is a Messenger of Allah" (not was) !
Please study about Mohammad(PBUH) from a reliable sources then you will know who HE is ! and why we are angry !!
And, tell me at what point you felt insulting and ignorant ?
[img_assist|nid=53652|title=|desc=|link=none|align=center|width=|height=0]
"And specially if you believe in no God (which we understand that in
this case you are deprived from any kind of morals, honor, dignity,
shame, decency, respect...etc)"
&
"while we don't have any respect to a person who is not a believer."
"And peanuts what you have said.. in some of your posts (especially about unbelievers) does have a ring of truth in it.."

I am in agreement with both nadt and speed on this subject.. You both have made some excellent posts.
And peanuts what you have said.. in some of your posts (especially about unbelievers) does have a ring of truth in it..
But I think speed summed it up in his post very well by stating that this is all propaganda in order to create yet more division in the world.
Speed..i agree with you, i for one have boycotted danish products, but the arguments are getting a bit tedious, theres so many threads about boycotting, some agree, some disagree....im just saying let it be...the ones that disagree can continue eating their danish cookies or whatever, theres no need to go on about it....you cant change peoples views(not that im saying you do)....all this bickering is getting a bit tiring..thats all im saying...
It is a very organised propaganda to keep the people (specially non muslims) away from the Religion/and from the Truth ... keep them busy with all sort of levish life style which is against Religious Teaching !
Most people (specially today's young generation) are following media or political leaders, who for their own motive diverting the nation towards violance and crime only.
Same is the example of Dam Govt. (oh i mean Dan Govt)
[img_assist|nid=53652|title=|desc=|link=none|align=center|width=|height=0]
" Muslims should get used to the insulting of their Prophet just like other religions have gotten used to the insults of their prophets.."
They are beyond the point of respect to their/any religion, since many decades. They have no feeling of insult or shame in this regard. They see it normal while we don't have any respect to a person who is not a believer.
INSTEAD......they have developed some kind of guilt/shame/insult/whatever to something else which they consider as holy as a god and they are ready to forget about all their "democracy" and "freedom of expression" and put people in jail if they "DARE" deny this thing.
It is the spiritual gap inside you (as a non-believer) that makes you plead for any man-made monument to take it as some kind of a 'holy god' and defend it furiously. This is the result of your system/life/country not recognizing religion/the church, and you not wanting to confess that you miss God in your soul....you are afraid that your society might accuse you of being 'religious'...while it is 'cool' to trash religions, be gay, have your girl-friends be pregnant, marry someone from the same gender, sniff some white powder...etc.
Thank God that I am straight & eat peanuts only (but I do cheat on Chita sometimes.......no Tarzan is better than me!)
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
Well I think removing misconceptions about Holy Prophet are Important ... because many of us live in western democracies, such as Canada and USA, which are increasingly becoming multicultural. People of all different
cultural backgrounds interact on a daily basis. One of the aspects of the multiculturalism is to respect each other’s culture and religion. However, if the Prophet of Islam is portrayed as a violent person and is treated disrespectfully in media while we consider him to be the perfect human being, it will create an awkward relationship between us and the people around us in our work place and school. It is our responsibility as revivers of Islam rationally and accurately highlight his perfect life and answer the arguments of critics when the need arises !
[img_assist|nid=53652|title=|desc=|link=none|align=center|width=|height=0]
still going on and its getting quite boring actually..live and let live...agree to disagree..wouldnt the world be a better place....i guess its too much to ask...
[img_assist|nid=53652|title=|desc=|link=none|align=center|width=|height=0]
The Great Doha Debate is still going on :)
The ideology of the freedom of speech has created unjustified attacks on the life of the Holy Prophet (saw). The supporters of freedom of speech who started the cartoon controversy attack the Holy Prophet (saw) not because they are necessarily atheist or extremist Christians but because their religion is freedom of speech. They published their cartoons of the Holy Prophet (saw) to “contribute to the debate regarding criticism of Islam and self censorship”...
They drew the offensive cartoons to make one point only that the Muslims should get used to the insulting of their Prophet just like other religions have gotten used to the insults of their prophets. They might be promoting freedom of speech but at the expense of peace. The world is already divided due to religion, nationalism, ideology and ethnicity, can hardly afford more divisions. Freedom of speech is important but when it becomes a license to spread hatred than it is no better than Christian or Islamic extremists who are dragging the world to the brink of global violence. The purpose of freedom of speech should be to seek truth not spread hatred !!!

Be specific on my quote don’t mix-up to insulting a religion with killing innocent.
Your frustrated explanation is not a potential answer of my passage more over you have made one more incorrect definition of Islam. Islam is totally against of killing innocent of any religions and no Muslim country support this sort of incident. A tiny group or organization can not represent the Ideology of Islam. Many Muslim organizations are banned in almost all the Muslim countries.
Pointing an incident of insignificant group and abusing the entire religion similarly when a thief is been caught red handed and giving many excuses which is not logical at all. This is not a protest but a fresh offense on Islam by Danes causing any religion tension , killing innocent , murder or suicide bombing is on the sole discretion of Danes and they are the first culprit behind killing innocent , murder or suicide bombing as they are the originator of the violence.
Of course most of the western and Danes are being misguided towards Islam by those fundamentalist missionary who are trying to reorganize as their community is not much concerned with their religion.
so would the writers in France (and the rest of the world) be left alone when they decide to write facts about any issue. Why put them in jail?
It is a matter of palying fair even if I was not a muslim...even if I was coming from Mars. If I am to allow "freedom of expression" regarding insulting a Prophet, then I would allow freedom of expression in ALL issues (including the REAL facts about holocausts).

*sigh*
It's your religion, leave it as your religion. Stop trying to force your views on
other people.
Find drawings of Mohammed offensive? then don't draw them yourself.
If a non muslim want's to draw a Mohammed then let him and be satisified that
from your religious texts, you will go to heaven, and he won't.
People have their own choices to make.
we are talking here about stands of honorable people who want to "freely express" their refusal to the insults directed to their Prophet & religion. Have you ever experienced such honorable people?
No one said Qatar/countries should boycott although it would be wonderful of them if they would.
If you are crazy about Danish products, that's your choice, enjoy them. I prefer to enjoy my principals & spiritual values.
PM, it's not only that English is not my 1st language, I'm also only a simple "monkie" surviving on peanuts....not an American pope who tries to lecture about English language (it's pathetic how some think of themselves just because they managed to get a green card/blue passport)
This peanut-party is GREAT INDEED! Halaluya Alexa!

The word “now” is capitalized and the word “Louzy” is written lousy. Defiantly you are not American, but a Monkey collecting peanuts for your daily alphabet soup lessons.
I just feel complete pity for your emotional disturbances, that’s all Mr. Primate.

I don't collect coins stamp with Richard face, but real Gold Eagle Bullion Coins that weight one Ounce each. If you want me, I'll show you some for your own conversion. Go back and forage for more peanuts.......
I was referring to what you said on an earlier post when you was talking to peanuts. You said "Who do you want to get your message across to - the newspapers or the Danish goverment???
Hence why I put good idea and gave the email address of the Prime Minister of Denmark for peanuts to email.
[img_assist|nid=58488|title=|desc=|link=none|align=center|width=130|height=98]
Well lets see it this way-
When muslims want to boycott something or someone there are many who stand up for a lot of things.
These are the same people who will support embargoes against muslim countries for no reason.
Go and boycott dairy, because that's the most you can do. Do you think Qatar will break its multi million $s contracts on infrastructure, medical equipments & telecommunication. Not to mention a leading international leading oil company that has ties with QP and recruits dozens of Qataris over this row? If you want to boycott. Fine, do it. Why do you need to make a big fuss about it?
"Rest sure that the main source.."
now that's more like you; louzy English and an aggressive hate post. What did you tell me your nationality is? Oh American....no wonder....

Hey angry Monkey, How much land do you own in Palestine? I would like to buy some acres from you. That way, I could build a primate enclosure just for you, with a big wall surrounding you. Rest sure that the main source of money is going to be the Jewish tour guides.
Hey old Monkey,
You are so full of hate that your heart is about to burst open.
How many gray hairs do you have, from all that hate inside you?
Hey retarded Monkey,
If you hate the west so much, why don’t you move to China or North Korea?
Maybe someone will listen to you and your insipid madness.
Hey dysfunctional Monkey boy,
You are one prime example of what to expect from someone who hides behind his religion to provoke war and hate.
Go and fetch some fried peanuts Boy, there is more to come.
You need to visit My Confession Booth for your mental misery and spiritual anguish.
Lima Bean - are you saying I will boycott Danish goods?
What I was doing is discussing the underpinning reasons for peanuts to boycott - and the effectiveness of boycotting a country not a company....
There are things I dont/wont buy but Danish products are not among them.
Peanuts.... satisfy myself I did something.... took a stand
Fine that is really good to put your money where your mouth is.
I like this vote with your feet policy or pocket rather. It is a peaceful way to get your point across.
peanunts, you can contact the Prime Mnister's office at [email protected]
Good luck.
[img_assist|nid=58488|title=|desc=|link=none|align=center|width=130|height=98]
Or even to only satisfy myself that I did something....I took a stand to support my beliefs!
Maybe your boycotting to SA products has contributed to the "freedom" of this country....who knows?
But I tell you if all people who are angry with those cartoons would take a firm stand and REALLY boycott SOME Danish products and cause some factories to loose & close, the pressure from the owners/businessmen MIGHT lead to changing the government or its policy! You never know but you gain self-respect if you try!
(When I was a little boy(cott), I have suffered when Tintin's were banned in Arab counties due to that "kick", and had to get my Tintin's from abroad....the good old days....didn't know what boycotting was)
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
Yes _ i have seen this.
I think boycotting when you are targetting a company maybe effective.
How effective is it when you are targetting a COUNTRY?
Was boycotting that effective against aparthied in South Africa?
There was a time when i would starve rather than buy South African goods... now I very much favour them. Their grapes are the best!
Who do you want to get your message across to - the newspapers or the Danish goverment???
here is my reply (which I have posted earlier) to your comment (which you have posted earlier). Boycotting is an ordinary thing, and it IS effective:
Alexa, thanks a loooooooot....I will have a peanut party in my jungle tonight.....will have Chita get the drinks & Tarzan get the girls....yipeeee
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
ok boycott belgium
page 22 of Tintin's Black Gold show a muslim being kicked whilst praying..
also depicts a gulf arab child as a spoilt brat.....
Go on call a petition to boycott.
Boycotts are putting your money where your mouth is and when i go to the supermarket the origin of the product is important.
However are boycotts really effective?
I thought you'd "educate" this "monkie"
But before you go, can I have some peanuts? pleeeeeez?
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
You are again blaming a reilgion (ISLAMIC fundamentalist) while I am blaming Zionists occupying my Arab land (they could be Athiests for all I know). This is where it is so clear that the west is full of hate to Islam, while Islam is a religion of love & peace.
Also, where are the Muslims slaughtering your people in the west? 11/9? Madrid? The Munich olympics? Was this before or after a western/zionist aggression an a Muslim land? Why are American lands/interests/embassies are the most targeted? Is it because the Americans are supporting Israel all the way or because America is seeking justice? Why the Madrid bombings happened after Spain supported the invasion of Iraq? Why was the IRA targetting England not Malta? Why are the black South Africans targetting the White South Africans, not the Slovinians? Why were the French fighting the Germans in Paris? Why now Danish interests are endangered? Why would you like to see a man punished if he killed a member of your family?
Alexa, if you are not a Jew....let's say you are a Christian or an athiest or a Buddhist....then what makes you feel insulted if I see that any holocaust is fishy? And specially if you believe in no God (which we understand that in this case you are deprived from any kind of morals, honor, dignity, shame, decency, respect...etc) then how can you develop any kind of anger or disgust when somebody refuses to take the amount of crap as evidence of any given holocaust? I am not saying that you ARE all this. I am only asking to try to understand the source/reason of your feelings (anger & disgust) in this issue. How can someone be able to disregard the amount of divine evidence on the existance of a Creator to this life, yet be prepared to mentally accept some man-made photos, books, films, monuments, graves, museums...etc as evidence of a holocaust, and be prepared to feel normal when denying God but feel guilty & ashamed when denying the black & white photos?
As I said earlier, for me it is exactly like a man who feels embarrassed from his daughter's ignorance in using a fork & a knife while he is OK with the fact that she works as a stripper!

" I NEVER said that I hate the Jews. They are people with a respected
religion just like us. I only hate the Zionist of them who have invaded
an Arab country of mine & have been slaughtering my Arab people of
Palestine."
While fine in that case, I don't hate MUSLIMS, I just hate those ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALISTS that are slaughtering MY people in the West. Therefore to voice my protest I'm going to draw cartoons illustrating how Islam is misused as an excuse for violence.
Nice to see we understand each other Peanuts.
"When they say he could walk on water, I think of it like he could fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Literal people scare me, getting it wrong fundamentally, down at the church of 'Look it says right here see!" Ani Difranco
I don't accuse you of any religious hate. It is very simple: if SOME people believe that insulting a holy prophet is some kind of "freedom of speech" then automatically, ALL people should be free to question some fishy holocaust. It is abnormal, hypocrate & funny if you have respect & fear from some fishy man-made holocaust when you have no respect & fear from God & His Divine prophets.
As you have seen, even people who act to be "civilized" suddenly lose it all & start using dirty words when they see other people are trying to freely express their thoughts.
I say "well done, Iran" for the perfect & non-violent reply to those cartoons.
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
is getting intresting...
[img_assist|nid=72314|title=.|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=|height=0]
Because thats how big your brain is right? I've said it all before in my earlier posts the only reason it has become an issue is because of people like you, you are the reason for the lower tolerance of your chosen religion. When will religous zealots learn the more you protest against these things the more FREE publicity it brings for the object that you are protesting against. BTW i dont have any hatred or malice towards Islam before you acuse me of that me own chosen beliefs have been persercuted against from the inseption of the christian faith so dont spout religous hate to me, my own people have been through a lot and we are portrayed always in an unfavourable light yet we dont complain we laugh it of because we know what we are about and thats all that matters.
You are not only a hypocrate then, but full of s**t too!
I am sure you have no idea what decency means otherwise you'd have realized that insulting a holy prophet thru cartoons comes from people who are deprived from any kind of human decency, while people should be free to express their agreement or refusal to a fishy man-made holocaust
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
You are drifting to science fiction again because you simply don't want to accept the logical explanation.
I NEVER said that I hate the Jews. They are people with a respected religion just like us. I only hate the Zionist of them who have invaded an Arab country of mine & have been slaughtering my Arab people of Palestine.
I am sure if somebody invades your country & kill your people, you'd feel the same.
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
You may have read my blah blah blah but you clearly didn't understand it. If you did, you would not have made such an asinine comparison between the holocaust that killed 6 million people and some cartoons.
What happened to freedom of speech? Nothing. I still believe in it. But there is a difference between freedom of speech and inciting hatred. Clearly, you are too stupid to see that difference.
As for manners. You will receive good manners from me when you learn some manners for yourself along with a little human decency.
The time has come to substitute caution for courage. Martin Luther King, Birmingham, Alabama 1963
it still proves how hypocrate you guys are & how much hate there is inside you to Islam.
What happend suddenly to your manners & to "freedom of expression"?
Can you see the amount of anger which clearly surfaces once someone touch the sensetive issue of a fishy holocaust? Are you able now to understand the anger of muslims when somebody makes fun of the Prophet? (specially that a Prophet involves a Divine religion from God while a holocaust is a man-made fishy story)
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
it would seem that you are not.
your hatred for jews does not alter historical facts. and blaming all jews for what israel or zionists have done is no better than blaming all muslims for extremist muslim terrorists.
if you hate so much that you are able to deny the murder of 6 million people, then i would suggest that you get some help. you can't be part of the solution when you are filled with that much hatred.

Somebody HAD TO fabricate a horrible story in order to justify invading a country & slaughtering its people!
Somebody also HAD TO sacrifice a couple of thousands in NY on 11/9 in order to justify "a war against terrorism"....capish?

for Islam. It is people like you who fill your lives with hate. Your hatred for Jews is obvious by your refusal to accept the holocaust as a tragic reality. Your hatred is fuelled by taking insult at every slight and putting all of your attention on negative things.
Islam is a lot stronger and more robust than being threatened by some stupid cartoons. It is not Islam that is weak and bitter and easy to take offense. It is people like you.
I know many muslims who deserve and get respect. They concentrate on building things and improving the lives of others. Theirs is the true face of Islam. Yours is the false face of hate.

Jewish settlers started arriving in Palestine after WWII as a consequence of Hitler's final solution. Had it not been for that, there is the very real possibility that Israel as it is would not exist.
If you don't believe in the holocaust then what caused the migration of Jews to Palestine in 1944 and beyond?

What harm has our Great Mohammed (PUBH) has done to Danish People
they repeatedly insulting muslims. if they want to express "freedom of

know at all. this shows how ignorant they are about Islam and Muslims.

Is the current petition/economic boycotting similar to the Pepsi/Coke battles in the 1980s/1970s? I sort of remember that, for some reason, Coke was aligned with Israel and Pepsi was aligned with Arab nations. That battle disappeared because both sides agreed that nobody was winning and it was hurting both the Arab and Israeli economies.
Nobody has answered a previous post about the DaVinciCode and the vatican. I realize pictures have a greater meaning in the Oriental mind but why not let it slide? From the Muslim missionaries perspective, these things do not help the cause along about drawing people to become Muslim. The punchline was ' No Iranian will beat us on our home turf!'
The Jews are reknowned for making jokes about themselves, as are Catholics, so the joke was they reckoned they could poke more fun about the Holocaust than the Iranians could. Their 'home turf' meaning their ability to laugh at themselves, probably more so, than anyone else ever possibly COULD!
Never mind. I can see it went right over your head.
"AND the Danes published them"
That's why I said "that's very good, Juantie"! Able to understand now???
As for "most offensive Jew hating cartoons ever published", well cartoon competitions are not held for this reason. They should be held in order to "make the world realize that there has been a great deal of brain-washing & exaggeration about some fishy holocaust"...where is YOUR sense of humor now?
Let's hope this "freedom of expression" prevails in all countries of the world (even in France where writers are jailed if they write facts about Zion"
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
I get it now. Its very simple isn't it? The holocaust never happened. It was a lie invented by Danish Jews.

International Holocaust Cartoon Competition
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
International Holocaust Cartoon Competition was a cartoon contest sponsored by the Iranian newspaper Hamshahri, to denounce what it called 'Western hypocrisy on freedom of speech'.
I SIMPLY WENT THROUGH THE SITE TO SIMPLIFY IT AND POINTED OUT THE JEWISH CARTOONIST'S RESPONSE - THE JEWS DECIDED TO HOLD THEIR OWN COMPETITION! Where's your sense of humour peanuts.
It was you who said "I also think that muslims should be more intelligent to realize that
the west does not give a damn about Christianity/religions, but care
about fake "holocausts" and that Arabic media should use this to make
funny cartoons....all in the name of "freedom of expression".
That Wikipedia site SHOWS there WERE cartoons about the Holocaust. AND the Danes published them!!!!!
Sheesh. I'm outta here, it's a one-way road to nowhere.
laters ...
Mohammed had a Divine message.....FROM GOD....NOT a man-made message
Understand, Alexa?
Gods, prophets, saints...etc had nothing to do with holocausts in WW2
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
the anger inside people will minimize when they see that there is justice in "freedom of expression" and that there are no double-standards. The aim is NOT to create "most offensive Jew hating cartoons ever published" but to make the world realize that there has been a great deal of brain-washing & exaggeration about some fishy holocaust.
(they should not have limited the participation in these cartoons, to the Jews only)
Also, France should not punnish writers or put them in jail for publishing facts about Jews...there MUST BE "freedom of expression".
No matter how (wrongfullly) some people believe in some fabricated black & white media about a holocaust, this "holocaust" is still a human deed, NOT a divine message.
It would be hypocracy if people feel offended about the denial of a human deed, while they play neutral when it comes to the denial of a God or making fun of a divine prophet/figure. This is exactly like a father who feels embarrassed from his daughter for her ignorance in using a fork & knife...while she works as a stripper!
if you pay peanuts you get monkies
I found the Jewish cartoonist's response, to Iran running a competition for the best holocaust cartoon, far more reasonable than .......
He showed humour in the face of adversity and all that.
I'm going back to making my Danish Pastries for supper - ooops! typo! meant Cornish!!!!
I know what you are trying to do. You are trying to draw attention away from Danes. It won't work. I know you are part Danish.
I really hate Danish people. I hope I never meet any. Problem is you can't easily tell. There are a lot of Danish in disguise.

Dunno why I bother to post, sometimes - sigh
cartoonist! I thought it was a super response from one cartoonist to another myself .... Oh go on - LAUGH!
"One of the two founders of this group was quoted as

Please?
They are perhaps the most evil people in the world. Instead of doing good things like suicide bombings, promoting sectarian violence and wanting to behead elderly women for using the wrong name for her Teddy Bear, what do these horrible people do?
I'll tell you what they do. They spend their time drawing cartoons, drinking beer and eating bacon. Those pernicious, evil, wanton Danes. Lets boycott Denmark and kick out all the Danes. Lets do it now!

But he's not the prophet of Denmark or the paper, therefore they can do what they like. This is what YOU aren't understanding.

This is something very serious issue ! Danish Cartonist created the cartoon to make fun of our beloved Porphet and He is not only beloved Prophet of Muslims also he is beloved by Allah.
Above all these, Govt. of Dan is supporting him for his fun creation?
People here are not understanding the issue. I even saw one stageshow drama on youtube which was telecast live on TV in USA against our Prophet Mohammad .... they created a puppet of Osama bin Laden and named him Mohammed ? And there were thousands of people in that show cheerup.
We cannot think of making fun of Jesus since He is one of our Holy Prophet!!

"On February 6, 2006, Farid Mortazavi, graphics editor of Hamshahri, announced a competition for cartoons on the Holocaust.
The twelve best contributions were to be rewarded with a golden coin
each, which were later increased to $5000 to $12000 prizes for the top
3 cartoons and 3 gold coins each for 12 other cartoonists. Later, Hamshahri
published an English introduction to the contest, as well as preliminary rules. The contest was created in response to the twelve cartoons published by the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten (see Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy) to challenge the championing of freedom of speech in the defense of the Jyllands-Posten cartoons ...."

I agree.
I never said that I *didn't* want more war and more cartoons.
If you want more and more cartoons then feel free. I don't really care. They're just cartoons to me. I'm not the one getting offended so I don't really mind.
I'm sure all the other Muslims would love for there to be more and more and more and more offensive cartoons. That seems to be their goal in all to this.
The fact is that the cartoons were published in 2005 in one newspaper. It didn't cause much of a stir.
The first country to reprint them was Egypt (I don't hear anyone calling for an Egpytian boycott). The newspaper also condemned them, but still not many initial protests. The more people took notice and condemned them, the more and more they were reprinted.
"I also think that muslims should be more intelligent to realize that the west does not give a damn about Christianity/religions, but care about fake "holocausts" and that Arabic media should use this to make funny cartoons....all in the name of "freedom of expression" "
Bang on peanuts, by all means you should, and do quite frequently, make anti-Western cartoons. Who's stopping you?

The bottom line is:
Islam is a religion of love, peace & no-aggression (all the countries that are now occupying other countries, are non-muslim ones).
If somebody decides to open fire & start a war against Islam, then it is war that they shall have. Yes, war means more cartoons, more boycott, more hate between religions/nations, more killings...etc until they realize their mistake... this is why it's called "war".
I also think that muslims should be more intelligent to realize that the west does not give a damn about Christianity/religions, but care about fake "holocausts" and that Arabic media should use this to make funny cartoons....all in the name of "freedom of expression"

Nadt RespectfullyIf you want to boycott is your total right. I recommend you before you decided to read and research properly. I apologized, if you feel that I'm hijacking but there is more to be said. Andrew You hit right on the nail with your comments. Thank You. Depictions of MuhammadFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The permissibility of depictions of Muhammad, founder of the Islamic faith, has long been a concern in Islam's history. Oral and written descriptions are readily accepted by all traditions of Islam, but there is disagreement about visual depictions.[1][2]The Qur'an does not explicitly forbid images of Muhammad, but there are a few hadith (supplemental traditions) which have explicitly prohibited Muslims from creating the visual depictions of figures under any circumstances. Most contemporary Sunni Muslims believe that visual depictions of the prophets generally should be prohibited, and they are particularly averse to visual representations of Muhammad.[3] The key concern is that the use of images can encourage idolatry, where the image becomes more important than what it represents. In Islamic art, some visual depictions only show Muhammad with his face veiled, or symbolically represent him as a flame; other images, notably from Persia of the Ilkhanate, and those made under the Ottomans, show him fully.[1]Other Muslims have taken a more relaxed view. Some, particularly Iranian Shi'a scholars, accept respectful depictions, and use illustrations of Muhammad in books and architectural decoration, as have Sunnis at various points in the past.[4] However, many Muslims who take a stricter view of the traditions, will sometimes challenge any depiction of Muhammad, including those created and published by non-Muslims.[5] BackgroundMain article: Aniconism in IslamSome major religions have had times in their history when images of their religious figures were forbidden. In Judaism, one of the Ten Commandments forbade "graven images." In Byzantine Christianity during the period of Iconoclasm (8th century, and again during the 9th century) visual representations were forbidden, and only the Cross could be depicted in churches. Even in modern times, there are disputes within different groups of Protestant Christians about the appropriateness of having religious icons of saints. The concern generally boils down to the concept of whether or not the image is becoming more important than what is being represented. [6] In Islam, although nothing in the Qu'ran explicitly bans images, there are some supplemental hadith which explicitly ban the drawing of images of any living creature; other hadith tolerate images, but never encourage them. Hence, visual depictions of Muhammad, or prophets such as Moses or Abraham, are avoided.[1][7][3]Depiction by MuslimsVerbal descriptionsIn one of the earliest sources, Ibn Sa'd's Kitab al-Tabaqat al-Kabir, there are numerous verbal descriptions of Muhammad. One description sourced to Ali ibn Abi Talib is as follows:The Apostle of Allah, may Allah bless him, is neither too short nor too tall. His hairs are neither curly nor straight, but a mixture of the two. He is a man of black hair and large skull. His complexion has a tinge of redness. His shoulder bones are broad and his palms and feet are fleshy. He has long al-masrubah which means hair growing from neck to navel. He is of long eye-lashes, close eye-brows, smooth and shining fore-head and long space between two shoulders. When he walks he walks inclining as if coming down from a height. I never saw a man like him before him or after him. [8].Athar Husain gives a non-pictorial description of his appearance, dress, etc. in "The Message of Mohammad". According to Husain, Muhammad was a little taller than average, sturdily built and muscular. His fingers were long. His hair, which was long, had waves, and he had a thick beard, which had seventeen gray hairs at the time of his death. He had good teeth and spare cheeks, brownish black eyes. His complexion was fair and he was very handsome. He walked fast with firm gait. He always kept himself busy with something, did not speak unnecessarily, always spoke to the point and without verbosity, and did not behave in an emotional way. He usually wore a shirt, trousers, a sheet thrown round the sholders and a turban, all spotlessly clean, rarely wearing the fine clothes that had been presented to him. He wanted others to wear simple, but always clean, clothes.[9]Visual depictions The Persian tradition of visual depictions of Muhammad begins around 1300 (Ilkhanid period). The earliest extant Persian manuscript representation of Muhammad is found in the Marzubannama manuscript, dating to 1299. The Ilkhanid MS Arab 161 of 1307/8 contains 25 illustrations of Al-Biruni's The Remaining Signs of Past Centuries, of which five include depictions the Prophet, including the two concluding images, the largest and most accomplished in the manuscript, which emphasize the relation of Muhammad and `Ali according to Shi`ite doctrine. Depictions of Muhammad remain common in Timurid Persian and Ottoman art throughout the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries. Perhaps the most elaborate cycle of illustrations of the Prophet's life is the late 16th century copy of the 14th century biography Siyer-i Nebi produced by order of Murat III.The Qur'an forbids idolatry, but does not specifically forbid representative art.Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." sura 21, 52-54)However, there are hadith, or recorded oral traditions, that have been interpreted to forbid any representational art:Allah, Most High said: "And who is more unjust than those who try to create the likeness of My creation? Let them create an atom, or let them create a wheat grain, or let them create a barley grain."[10][...] All the painters who make pictures would be in the fire of Hell.[11]Just like "drinking of wine was more sternly and unequivocally forbidden in the Qur'an then was painting of pictures, but drunkenness has been a common features from days of Umayyads down to modern time". Similarly "despite the fulminations of the theologians the painter went drawing the figures of men and animals". However, "the figure of Muhammad seldom occurs in a picture painted by a Muslim artist, and when it is found the face is generally veiled or the prophet is symbolically represented by a flame of golden light. This very rarity of the subject matter" leads to presenting those figures in this article.[1]T. W. Arnold says that "It was not merely Sunni schools of law but Shia jurists also who fulminated against this figured art. Because the Persians are Shiites, many Europeans writers have assumed that the Shia sect had not the same objection to representing living being as the rival set of the Sunni; but such an opinion ignores the fact that Shiisum did not become the state church in Persia until the rise of Safivid dynasty at the beginning of the 16th century."CinemaVery few films have featured Muhammad. The only modern one to do so was the 1976 The Message, also known as Mohammad, Messenger of God. The movie focused on other persons and never directly showed Muhammad. When Muhammad was essential to a scene, the camera would show events from his point of view.[13]Two well-known Fatwas from Al-Azhar University and Shiite Council of Lebanon were issued about The Message."It is certainly probable that this is not the result of the creativity of the filmmakers but of the rules announced by the Islamic scholars of the Azhar and the Shiite Council of Lebanon, who prohibited any representation of Muhammad’s wives as well as of the Prophet himself."[13]A more severe case occurred in Egypt in 1926, around the anticipated production of a film about the grandeur of the early days of Islam. Upon learning of this plan, the Islamic Al-Azhar University in Cairo alerted Egyptian public opinion, and published a juridical decision (fatwa), stipulating that Islam categorically forbids the representation of the prophet and his companions on the screen. King Fauad sent a severe warning to actor Youssef Wahbi, threatening to exile him and strip him of his Egyptian nationality"[14]Other contemporary Shi'a scholars, outside Shi'a majority Iran, have taken a relaxed attitude towards pictures of Muhammad and his household, the Ahlul Bayt. A fatwa given by Ali al-Sistani, the Shi'a marja of Iraq, states that it is permissible to depict Muhammad, even in television or movies, if done with respect.[15][16]A devotional cartoon called Muhammad (PBUH): The Last Prophet was released in 2004[17]Depiction by non-MuslimsMuhammad figures frequently in depictions of influential people in world history. Such depictions tend to be favourable or neutral in intent; one example can be found at the United States Supreme Court building in Washington, DC. A frieze including major historical lawgivers places Muhammad alongside Hammurabi, Moses, Confucius, and others. Because of a 1997 controversy surrounding the frieze, tourist materials have been edited so they call the depiction "a well-intentioned attempt by the sculptor to honor Muhammad" that "bears no resemblance to Muhammad."[18] In 1955, a statue of Muhammad was removed from a courthouse in New York City after the ambassadors of Indonesia, Pakistan, and Egypt requested its removal.[19]There have also been numerous book illustrations showing Muhammad.Dante, in The Divine Comedy: Inferno, placed Muhammad in Hell, with his entrails hanging out (Canto 28):No barrel, not even one where the hoops and staves go every which way, was ever split open like one frayed Sinner I saw, ripped from chin to where we below. His guts hung between his legs and displayed His vital organs, including that wretched sack Which converts to whatever gets conveyed down the gullet. As I stared at him he looked back And with his hands pulled his chest open, Saying, "See how I split open the crack in myself! See how twisted and broken Mohammed is!" Before me walks Ali, his face Cleft from chin to crown, grief–stricken. This scene is frequently shown in illustrations of the Divina Commedia. For example it is represented in a 15th century fresco in Bologna, Italy, in the Church of San Petronio,[20] and artwork by Salvador Dali, Auguste Rodin, William Blake, and Gustave Doré.[21] Recent controversiesDuring the 2000s, controversies over depictions of Muhammad, both over recent caricatures or cartoons and over display of historical artwork, have received worldwide media attention, in particular the 2005 Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy. In 2002, Italian police reported that they had disrupted a terrorist plot to destroy a church in Bologna, Italy, which contains a 15th century fresco depicting an image of Muhammad.[20][22] Cartoons Further information: Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversyIn 2005, a Danish newspaper published a set of editorial cartoons, many of which depicted Muhammad. In late 2005 and early 2006, Danish Muslim organizations ignited a controversy through public protests and by spreading knowledge of the publication of the cartoons.[6] Western Muslims generally said that it was not simply the depiction of Muhammad that was offensive, but the implication that Muhammad was somehow a supporter of terrorism.[7] On 12 February 2008 the Danish Policed arrested three men alleged to be involved in a plot to assassinate Kurt Westergaard, the man who penned one of the cartoons.[23]In 2006, the controversial American television program South Park, which had previously shown an image of Muhammad in the July 4, 2001 episode "Super Best Friends", attempted to satirize the Danish newspaper incident. In the episode "Cartoon Wars Part II", they intended to show Muhammad handing a salmon helmet to Peter Griffin, a fictional character in the Fox animated television show Family Guy. However, Comedy Central, the parent company of South Park, rejected the scene, citing concerns of violent protests in the Islamic world. The creators of South Park reacted by instead satirizing Comedy Central's double-standard for censorship, instead including a cartoon segment in which American president George W. Bush and Jesus defecate on the flag of the United States.[citation needed]The Lars Vilks Muhammad drawings controversy began in July 2007 with a series of drawings by Swedish artist Lars Vilks which depicted the Islamic prophet Muhammad as a roundabout dog. Several art galleries in Sweden declined to show the drawings, citing security concerns and fear of violence. The controversy gained international attention after the Örebro-based regional newspaper Nerikes Allehanda published one of the drawings on August 18 to illustrate an editorial on self-censorship and freedom of religion.[24] While several other leading Swedish newspapers had published the drawings already, this particular publication led to protests from Muslims in Sweden as well as official condemnations from several foreign governments including Iran[25],Pakistan[26], Afghanistan[27], Egypt[28] and Jordan[29], as well as by the inter-governmental Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).[30] The controversy occurred about one and a half year after the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy inDenmark in early 2006.An additional controversy emerged in September 2007 when Bangladeshi cartoonist Arifur Rahman was detained on suspicion of showing disrespect to Muhammad. The Interim Government confiscated copies of the Prothom Alo newspaper issue in which Muhammad was caricatured. The cartoon consisted of a boy holding a cat conversing with an elderly Muslim in Bengali where the older man asks the boy his name and he replies "Babu". The older man chides him for not mentioning the name of the prophet Muhammad before his name. He then points to the cat and asks the boy what it is, and the boy replies "Muhammad the cat". The cartoon caused a firestorm in Bangladesh, with militant Islamists demanding that Rahman be executed for "blasphemy". A group of people torched copies of the paper after publication of the cartoon and several Islamic groups protested, saying the drawings ridiculed prophet Mohammad and his close aides. They demanded "exemplary punishment" of the paper's editor and the cartoonist. Bangladesh, however, does not have a blasphemy law, although it was earlier demanded by the same extremist Islamic groups.Sooreh HeraIn December, 2007, controversy erupted in the Netherlands when Iranian artist Sooreh Hera exhibited photos of two Iranian gay men in a series of sexually provocative positions, wearing masks depicting Muhammad and his son-in-law Ali. The photo series was intended to highlight the hypocrisy the artist saw, of Muslim married men engaging in sexual relations with other men. The Hague Municipal Museum expressed interest in buying the series, but refused to display it, citing fear that it could "offend certain groups". Right wing politician Geert Wilders, leader of the Partij voor de Vrijheid (Party for Freedom), excoriated the museum’s decision, saying it was “based on fear”.[31] Wikipedia article In 2008, several Muslims protested against the inclusion of Muhammad's depictions in English Wikipedia's Muhammad article.[32][33] An online petition claims to have collected over 300,000 signatures in three months (December 2007 to February 2008).[34] The petition specifies opposition to a reproduction of a 17th century Ottoman copy of a 14th century (Ilkhanate) manuscript image (MS Arabe 1489) showing Muhammad as he prohibits intercalation.[35] Jeremy Henzell-Thomas of The American Muslim deplored the petition as one of "these mechanical knee-jerk reactions" whichare gifts to those who seek every opportunity to decry Islam and ridicule Muslims and can only exacerbate a situation in which Muslims and the Western media seem to be locked in an ever-descending spiral of ignorance and mutual loathing.[36]Wikipedia considered but rejected a compromise that would allow visitors to choose whether to view the page with images.[33] The Wikipedia community has refused to act upon the petition.[37] The site's answers to frequently asked questions says Wikipedia does not censor itself for the benefit of any group.[38]
Hmmm I wonder what the Dane's will care more about, the boycott of their products or the rights to their freedom of speech?

Red pope..why dont you start your own thread with the petition against instead of hijacking speeds thread...its a bit tacky....
You can't view the tension between different peoples as individual events. The tension between Muslims and Danes isn't over just the cartoons.
You say that Muslims 'never insult any others religion'. For a lot of people in the west, including Denmark, this statement is not true. They perceive, rightly or wrongly, Islam as a religion that kills innocent civilians.
So their way of protesting about murdering, hateful and violent Muslims is to publish cartoons. Which isn't the best way, obviously, but it's what they did.
So what was the response among a lot of Muslim people - worldwide protests which killed about 40 people, and death threats to the cartoonists. Yes, these peace-loving Muslims who just want tolerance and understanding thought the best way to bridge the cultural divide between Islam and the west, was to attempt to assasinate these people.
So in response the cartoons are being republished.
Another boycott, not matter how well-intentioned, will almost certainly lead to more protests, more killings and MORE CARTOONS.
I agree with snowyowl...boycotts can be effective, even if some think they are useless, If you feel insulted do it, if you dont stock up on whatever you want. I have been boycotting their products as well. Thanks for the article speed..
Mis-Cat, The intention is very important, If it was out of ignorance or a mistake then forgetting it would make sense. If the intention is otherwise then I am afraid you will be pushed to the wall.
Mankind is busy with many other issues, starving people, murder, wars, etc. etc. and don't have timeto think only about a boycott, an because Danish productsare not the most interesting thing in the world.
I don't agree withthe publishing of such material if that makes any difference.

my view one the subject of ignoring is only from a religous point of view. The more a religous movment protests over a film a piece of art or a book that offends it only cretes more intrigue to the people who don't believe in that religion.
How come humankind expect with Muslim to be calm in this type of incident when we never insult any others religion though we also have option to do the similar things. If it is just a peace of paper we also can do many things for them just on a peace of paper but we believe if a mad dog bites you don't bite him back. That's the reason we are protesting peacefully.
There was nothing in your post thich was insulting - it is your point of view, as I don't eat many foreign products anyway it would be senseless.
If you don’t have any kind of feelings better you don't involve yourself in that….I don’t mean to insult your family or your feelings which never die even peoples die.
After the french did some nuclear bombing..a few years ago, there was a 'boycott'on French products....for a week or so in Aust. And I had heard that people were boycotting Nestle chocolate etc as they provided baby formula and propaganda to Africa that its product was better than breast milk then it forced those mothers to continue to buy it as their breast milk dried up...but they had no money to buy those products. Boycotting products has been done for various reasons, so if you feel insulted etc...I say go ahead and boycott, I'm all for protesting that doesn't hurt a soul and allows people a say.....whatever the outcome

There is no such thing as bad publicity as far as the arts are concerned. The best way to protest is by doing nothing at all, the more you get worked up over a piece of art the more interest you create in that art, there is however bad publicity in religion. By boycotting, protesting anything that may offend ones religion only creates this bad publicity and therefore only incites a lower level of tolerance for that religion on a world stage. I am not ignorant of the fact that Qatar is a muslim country but it does nothing for qatar if they choose the road of boycotting Danish products because of a satirical cartoon. I know this cartoon has offended many just as cartoons of the pope, jesus and god offend the crhistians. the point as i stated earlier the cartoon was only reprinted due to the outcry over it and the demand by none muslims to see it again so to judge for themselves why it would create such a stir. The trouble with Islam is the bad press so more bad press over a stupid silly cartoon wont help your cause.
Just for your information I am a British citizen living abroad for nearly almost 40 years now, no matter where I have lived or which country I have visited I have never involved myself in political nor religous battles, petitions boycotts etc. this has served me well and at my age I will not change my principles. Just for your information all my family are dead so nothing can happen to them any more.
Mis-Cat I agree with your comments. But then it would lead to two things. Either things would be ignored and forgotten or it would become more and more provocative.
Suppose a Danish man rape your mother / sister and Danish govt. just do nothing. Then also you will pile up Danish butter ! certainly not because you love your mother/sister those are been insulted by them and you cant tolerate any short of insult of your mother/syster.
I am sorry to use these type of language just want to explain the feelings.
And we Muslim love our prophet more than mother/sister .
What exactly dont you get?
this is a muslim country, The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is our prophet. Signing a petition is the least we can do. We're backwards because we're protesting peacefully? and as far as I know Danish products are still being sold. What's your problem?
If I did eat butter I would stock up on it but I don't - it is up to me if I support a petition/boucott or not
Speed, why limit the boycott call to only the Muslim brothers and sisters - I'd say we invite all likeminded people irrespective of caste color and creed to join in the boycott.
Why Qatar will never move forward. Boycotting danish products wont do much for your cause infact it will only inflame religous tension as the rest of the world sees it. I would have thought by now most religions would have learnt their lesson the less you disagree with something and allow it to pass the sooner everyone forgets about it remeber what happened with the vatican and the "Da Vinci Code" instead of people turning away from it the more the vatican said against it the more the masses became intrigued by it there fore creating a world wide bestseller that more than likley would have only reached a conspirosy theorist market and this is only one case there have been countless others. The only reason the cartoon was published again was because of the original outcry if you had just let it pass then it would proberbly never have been printed again and the only way you would find it is in the papers archives.
Its high time muslims unite against denmark this time. This time boycott denmark for life!
I mentioned in my comments very clearly that this has nothing to do with going into useless arguments ..
This is our right to protest.
