Annual leave restrictions?
Being relatively new to Doha, I am wondering if it is the norm/acceptable for employers to restrict you to take your annual leave all in one go and only after being employed with the company for 12 months. So, no vacation for 12 months then you can get 30 consecutive days off! Is it just me or does something not seem right here...?
Appreciate your feedback...thanks!
Dear Leaders23,
from were did qatar labor law based the 2 years, is it from the joining date or from last date of vacation???
Because my friend joined her company on May 2006, she took her vacation after 2yrs & 8 Mo.'s and she returned on March 2009 ( date of return from vacation ) , on May 2010, she's planning to go for vacation again, because technically its her 4th year now in her company considering her joining date, but the company refuse to give her free 2 way ticket because she will have 2 years on MArch 2011 based on the date of return from 1st vacation, do you have any idea if this is fair and based on qatar labor law???
i know one company who does this due to oprational requirements
- live your life as simple as you are
- money doesn't create man, but it is the man who created money
- don't do what others say, just listen to them, but do what you feel good
The rule is you can take your annual leave while you are working, no need to wait untill complete a year....... but as expatriated no use of getting whole leave within one year because we want to go home to see our parents, so if you complete 11 months you can take your vacation as 3 weeks (21 days).
Enjoy youself..............
as per the qatari labor law , ur leave will be 21 days per year and every two years a two way ticket to be given.
but some companies are not making the same , its up to your service agreement which is you may take 30 days every 12 consecutive months , with a two way ticket every year,.
or else you can take any unpaid leaves
Tuctuc, highly depend on which company you worked for. Some don't care at all if people available to cover your job, then your leave schedule is up to you. Others as what you said, only after 12 month.
if you pay for your own ticket, it doesn't really matter how early you take your vacation.. In my company, since we have enough people doing the same job, i've been taking one week vacation every 3 months..
From my experience, the first vacation can be taken only after 11 months of employment...from the second year onwards, its upto the employee whether he wish to split his annual leave or not..How ever everything depends on the nature of your job as well as the relation with your Boss...!!
