There is a post called Job Portals on this board and I see a comment from Mom_me that she only knows 2 people that found a job via a job portal. I am in the US and I am trying to find employment in Doha.
If its hard to find a job through a job portal, how do you find work. What is the best method to finding a job in Qatar (Doha)
Dear Move08, Please make a note that all recruitment agencies uses online portals to hire candidates. thought it's not the only way they search for people, it's one of the main ways. Kindly also check Gulftimes online classified section http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/index.asp?cu_no=2&lng=1&template_id=51&temp_type=42
where you can see openings from canada and apply to them directly. Hope this is useful to you. Thank you.
OMG goodness..the child will probably be fine..Its you and your husband that maybe miserable with that child in your laps...goodness
I think that's a good plan. No it's not cheap at all! We just booked a flight home for 4 and it's costing us almost 20,000 QR. We'll see how much my husband's employer gives us! They seem to think that my not-quite 2 yr old would be fine on my lap for 19 hours. :)
Thank you pwb78..
I am hoping to land a state side job that has international locations. Heck maybe I can save on an airline ticket. Its sure isnt cheap or fast to fly to Doha..LOL
Here's 4 postings off the Cornell University site - don't know if it's your area...
Information Technology and Services
Senior Support Technician (4 Positions)
Associate Director, IT Projects
IT Assistant
HelpDesk Manager

You can check the Gulf Times or Peninsula websites in the classifieds. Maybe try looking at American/Candian company/university websites that have branches here for job vacancies. Completely local companies don't tend to use the internet much for job postings. I don't really know just brainstorming here.
I am a software tester, software quality assurance analyst, software quality assurance engineer, validation associate..there are so many names. Basically, I verify software and perform various performance, stress, regression and acceptance test scenarios for systems. If this was Japan, I would be golden. I have online gaming experience as well. If you guys have any suggestion I am open to them.
I am not sure how the receptionist conversation started but heck if it gets too bad maybe I will try that job too..LOL
there are specific jobs that would get you the best response through the internet/job portals, mainly highly skilled in short supply kind of roles/industries, if you are trying to get a job of areceptionist its very unlikely that it will happen long distance.
If you come from the oil and gas, construction, IT or any such highly specialised field you stand a good chance through the job portals.
Nothing ventured nothing gained, what do you stand to lose in any case?
well right but let her try who know her lucky hour strikes any moment and she gets selected. some time skills beat the qualification.

Not to make fun or anything but check out the qualifications required for both receptionist positions on that site. I dont know the last time a receptionist was required to have a uni degree.
