Random Breath Testing

This have been forwarded to me few times from various group and friends. Just in case you haven't heard, pls read the following as below :

"We have heard on good authority that Qatar Police are carrying out random breath tests on drivers. Most of us come from countries where it is acceptable to have a small amount to drink and then drive. It is worth noting that Qatar have a zero tolerance policy to alcohol, i.e. any amount of alcohol in your blood, no matter how small could result in a conviction. Apparently 10 expats have been arrested since Christmas, held in jail for 24 hours and then deported never allowed to return to Qatar. The bottom line is that if you have had so much of a sniff of alcohol, don't drive, get a taxi or a lift, it just isn't worth the risk."

So fellow QL'ers ... if you go out for a piss or night out involving booze, don't take the risk and go behind the wheel. Book a limousine. Cost you QR 50 or more and a little more hassle but you save bigger hassle / trouble. Imagine if you have kids in full time education in Doha, fully furnished house, bank account, car loan etc and you have to leave Qatar in short notice? How you would tidy loose end up? And of course you loose your job in Qatar.

- including random breath tests, start coming Qatar's way.

They want the Olympic Games.

The Country will be in the public eye (not to mention the Olympic Committee keeping a watching brief on how things proceed prior to Qatar being chosen or not).

OK by me!

well...if i must add...the point here novita was probably getting to:

don't drink and drive and avoid ending up being a road kill.

that's the point..isn't it ?

Darude ... as it is said on the title it is about breath testing. But then you start diverting about 'liquor in the public' allow or not allow. I just trying to respond to your post.

Anyway Darude ... if you think it is a rumour you should ignore it. But for people who think it is worth to think about ... they can decide for themself.

I won't touch alcohol when I go out.... don't normally touch it at any other time either....

"if you don't like the heat... get out of the kitchen... but stop trying to fan the flames before you leave... it will burn you on the a** as you go through the doorway...." ME

if now liquor then what are the so known rumors the authorities checking??? bad breath or are they offering free dental service on road??

yes they are checking who consumed alcohol with that so called breath tester. am not telling you to drink and then go out and drive all day and night. just simply that the other night i was at hotel Rydges and some one asked me if it had happened.so my ex employe friend from Qatar air force told me there is no such thing. and next day i confirmed with the one workin in interior coz its that place where every one dials 999. and the answer was NEGATIVE.

in fact Darude ... if the police stop your car ... and they found you carrying booze in your vehicle and you can't show them your booze license, the police have all the rights to drag you to the police station.

Well if it is true that can be bad since breathalizers give false positives all the time :/

Pls do read the thread again ... It is not about liquor allow / not allow in the public. It is about you consuming alcohol (regardless the amount) and go down on the road driving.
