Severance Clause

Rohit
By Rohit

Hi,

I am Rohit, a resident of Kolkata. Have got a job in Qatar on contract for 3 years, and will be leaving soon on a Resident Visa. My question relates to the practical implications of leaving the company mid - way thro' the assignment and returning home / migrating to some other country(just in case of a better oportunity or unforseen exigency). The Offer Letter says that I would have to give a one month notice or pay in lieu of it. This is fine, but some people have painted a rather dismal picture in such a scenario. And how soon can one get relieved from the company, if one is ready to pay the amount. The company however,is a good one only.

Would request people with experience / knowledge to please enlighten me.

Regards,

Rohit.

I suggest that you get a job that you want and are happy with.

Before you even arrive, you are looking for a way out.

My concern basically is that is it necessary to get NOC from one's employer to return back OR one can return by simply getting the Resident Visa cancelled. Is getting NOC and getting the RV cancelled the same thing? Does one also need NOC to get the RP cancelled...this is important. What are the implictions, and how difficult it is to get NOC/ RP Cancelled

Thanks,

Rohit
