Dogs in Doha - Doggie advice wanted!

Hi guys
My husband has been offered a job in Doha, all looks good except we can't decide whether or not to bring our 2 year old much loved Golden Retriever. We will have a walled garden however I have heard that dogs are not common as pets in Qatar. Our dog is used to running free and getting long walks most days, is this possible anywhere in Doha?
Any doggie advice would be much welcomed.
Thanks!
you have to find out from your landlord if they are allowed or not. Sometimes appartment buildings also allow dogs - so really its up to the landlord.
Yes, there are 4 different boarding kennels in Qatar
Paws and Claws
Pampered Pets
The Vet Surgery - Vet's with boarding space
Qatar Vet Centre - Vet's with boarding space
Hope this helps.

What is the deal with compounds and dogs? Is it a big deal from the standpoint of the landlords? What about leaving town-are there good kennels or a good doggie friend network?
its a dog, not a cat that uses a litter tray....
although I have my dogs trained to toilet on newspaper, as they don't get out much, I don't cage them up to go to the toilet... can you explain your reasoning for two items you offered.

A friend of mine is shipping his dog in now from the USA and is using a pet relocator in Doha. It's costing just under a thousand USD. Cheaper if you bring them on the plane with you.

Another friend has a larger dog and they go out to the desert on days off and let thier dog romp by the seaside. He likes to roll in fish carcasses.
