Hi ,

I am currently working as an Oracle Apps DBA for Oracle India(bangalore) . I have about 3.5 years of experience and have been offered a job for the same role by Mannai Corporation (doha) .

They would be providing me single accomodation , and conveyance to and fro office . They have asked me to quote my expectation . I really have no clue about the market there . I am suppose to get back to them with details about my salary expectation , and if i want to take office accomodation etc . Now in either cae if i accept the accomodation and without accomodation please let me know how much should i ask for???

Kindly help me decide on my salary based on the company i will be working for (Mannai Corporation) ,my experience , my ex-company "Oracle" i have worked for , my certofication as an OCA and also fact that accomodation on single basis will be provided with conveyance . Also let me know the amount i should ask for if i dont take up the office accomodation.

Need your help . Kindly reply back.

Thanks,
zefazal.

Fazal make sure basic is at least QR 10,000.

Also ask for transport allowance at least QR 1000,

Mannai provides a discount to its staff for the vehicles that they deal in I think Plus I think they can provide interest free instalments.

Make sure you ask for family staus + accomodation in the event that you get married in the future.

Zefezal...buddy, good to see you making the move, although I really wouldn't approve of the move, for a simple reason, for an IT person Qatar is certainly not the place...but stilll it is good enough...and regarding the salary since Mannai is a private company, all that Mr.Amjad Khan has said is alright to a major part, except for a few things...

1) Get the accomodation from the company, they take care of their employees,

2) Annual leave is for 30 days...and it is a paid leave

3) I don't think there is any such thing sas furtniture allowance in private companies

4) Again, interest free car loan,,, nope private comps dont do that...

5)Air fare once a year is alright

6) Sick leave, casual leave...wow...all this dont exist in a private company my friend...

The contract is pretty simple, but just keep in mind, about the basic salary...air fare, transport accomodation and family status once you get married (FOR SURE), and ofcourse air tickets, annual leave, and bonus if any, and increment schemes of their company...

But one thing, Bangalore compared to Qatar is far more advanced, Qatar is way way back...other than money there is nothing here...so take care buddy...

And yes try and ensure that your basic salary is not below QR 7500 - QR 8000K, and that is BASIC SALARY BUDDY...

Don't falter and don't give them a thought that Indians are bought cheap anymore...trust me thats the way it is here, and dont let that continue buddy...

Other than that, Cheers...

To help you better understand, here is the package breakup that needs to be included in the contract:

Qr.8,000/- Basic (Minimum)

+ Family Accomadation (2/3) BR indepedent flat

+ Anual Air Fare including family

+ Furniture Alloance (around Qr.45,000/- [one time - non refundable])

+ Qr.45,000/- interest free vechile loan (3 yrs term)

+ 40 days anual paid vacation

+ 5 days casual leave annually

+ 15 days sick leave annually

This is standard break up for any high profile job, including DBA. FYI, our DBA gets 25% more than what I have mentioned here.

Take home around QR.8000 + accomodation + car would be reasonalbe.

Remember only conveyance fro/to work place will not make you happy all the time as you will need to move around the city and you will need personal car. If company is willing to give the car, it would be ideal situation.

No doubt leaving in Qatar is great pleasure, but at same time it comes at a cost.

Mannai Corporation is amoung one of the good companies you can work for and the Corporation I work for directly deals with them.

If you are still single and planing to get married in near future, I would recommend you to keep a total budget of not less than Qr.14,000/- considering you don't go for companies accomadation. If companie is willing to provide accomadation, make sure its written in the contract that they will provide family accomadation after marriage. Considering the growth here and in Bangalore, you would need minimum of Qr.8000/- to cover all expenses here and to cover your expenses in Bangalore (parents) and investment/saving + Qr. 6000/- for 2 bed room flat (if you are lucky enough).

I am really glad to know you are coming from Bangalore, as I belong to JP Nagar in Bangalore. One things for sure, you will miss every thing about Bangalore, other than that, Qatar is the best place to leave in the world right now.

Wish to see you soon in Qatar.

Amjad Khan.

Thanks for that reply . I was wondering if you meant my basic pay to be QR5000-QR6000?? as in a software person get paid monthly QR5000-QR6000??? thats it??? Kindly reply back.

i heard the Mannai takes care of its employees well... if you are married ask for family accomodation, coz rent kills u here.

ask for a vehicle as well...

and on top of the QR5000-QR6000 should be okie...

if they cant give family accomodation, getting a decent place outside will cost you anything between 4G-6G, so put that into account and work out something reasonable!
