The Evolution of Gender

If enlightenment is the experience of consciousness beyond ego, then what does that consciousness look like, expressed through postmodern men and women? What happens to our identity, to fundamental self-structures like gender, when we take that leap beyond ego? This has always been a confusing matter, but it is even more so in a time and cultural context when so many of us are unclear about what the contours of a male or female identity should be. As both men and women evolve from traditional to post-traditional roles in culture, religion, and society, the roadmap for what it means to be a man or a woman, beyond some very basic distinctions, has become less and less clearly defined. And for those of us who are endeavoring to pioneer new stages in the evolution of consciousness and culture, this uncharted terrain is the very place in which we choose to live. So what does it mean to be a man or a woman as we develop beyond conventional structures and post-conventional confusion to post-postconventional clarity?

Right sorry for the misunderstanding...its just that there's enough bloodshed going on in the world, don't need another one.

.... I'm sure that the author is referring to our roles in life in general, as a whole...

I was being lyrical with my use of the word "Bloodshed". I didn't mean it in the literal sense, more in the sense that there will be resistance and a struggle.

Starseed, is the author emphasising about gender role models or its impact on evolution of culture. Since he is relating to spritualism I am a bit confused about the context.

the theory also goes that technology is evolving at such a rate, that the evolution of mankind cannot keep up - wonder where we are headed?

Bloodshed isn't necessary, change is a fact of the progressing world and the world is changing to bring more equality between the genders. The ones that thing otherwise are mostly the older generation that will be replaced by a newer generations that is accepting and in support of the required change.

As time goes on the roles of males and females divert from what tradition dictates they should be, this is mainly due to equal opportunity which allowed females to progress beyond their stereotypical roles that may limit them. So now nearly everything a man can do a woman is also able to do. There will come a point where the only thing that separates males and females and keeps them different is their biological structure.

Human beings constantly evolve and we continue to evolve. The conventional model of the woman staying home and making house for the husband and children is over. We are constantly evolving a new model where women can be and sometimes are leaders of business, commerce and even countries. Where men share in the raising of children.

Some people don't like this. They yearn for the simplistic past where everyone knew their place and the family structure was either a good safe haven or a prison. People now can design their own destinies. This is good but it will not be without its difficulties. Nothing is born without bloodshed whether it is a baby or a nation. The birth of new order will be similarly traumatic.
