We stayed as guests in a home right in the middle of a small game park near the Kruger (Sep06)... the lions used to roam thru the front yard every evening - scary! but exciting! The owners had big powerful spot lights that we'd use to view them 50-100 yards further out.. they were usually hunting for bok or bush pig (non-halal:) on the farm.
Then when we went back in Dec06, we had more great viewing of Lion in the main game park, but such a lot of elephant it became [yawn] boring, although I loved watching them play in the mud pools! :) The best was sitting at the Olifants River game-spotting resort, having breakfast (real bacon) prepared by the locals who ran the place... hippo there in abundance floating near the banks of the river - the most dangerous animal you can find.. Saw a few crocs too.
If you can find a really good game ranger who knows his stuff.. you can have the best viewing ever. We came across a terrible smell the one day and the ranger told us that a leopard (usually roam as loners) must be in the area, as we coudln't find the kill, so it had probably been dragged up into a tree by the leopard.
I love the African bush! Fun! The best time for viewing game is in the sring-winter-autumn months between April and August. In summer, like now, is rainy season, & the vegetation too dense to be able to see very much.

Oh but pigs are such friendly little guys....in fact, more intelligent than dogs....and easier to train...they especially love it when you rub their snouts...poor pigs :(

saw a leopard stalking some impala...we sat and watched for about 30 min..he was only about 30 ft away but they couldn't scent him..it was amazing..the guide, who had been doing that for over 15 years, said he'd only seen that once before...
spent days at each level..northern middle and southern...I want to take the boys sometime...but want to spend at least a week there taking photographs...Ihave some of the most amazing ones...one of a newborn elephant calf...being protected by her mother and 4 other females, about 50 yards from the car..
was most disappointed when i was in south africa last nov and i didn't see one lion the whole 4 days i was on safari..elephants, giraffes, wildebeasts, numerous other animals, but it must have been the lions week off...
Learn to take jokes dude! To me from any angle this doesn't look like a morphed picture. Moreover, it isn't from Qatar, clearly shows its in Singapore.
I wasn't trying to fool anyone. I guess this picture clearly doubts the authencity of any Halal sticker on products exported. Whether they are imported in Qatar or not is totally a different issue.

THat just goes to show that just because there is a Halal sticker, it doesn't mean it really is.
Sad that people prey on others.
