Is a nice thread but:

The last time I climb a mountain my legs were sore, my back was in pain and not counting the thirst that was devastating to my climbing team. I made it to0 15 thousand feet, when I slip on loose rocks and busted my right ankle.

I rather light my candle in top of my table at zero feet above the sea level. It will be easy to handle and dream about it.

because soon after my Mother (a devout Catholic) died, my husband and I visited Canterbury Cathedral and there was a lovely chapel there and an invitation to light a candle for posterity. Off I went and lit one for my Mother.

Poor soul, she probably turned in her grave - I completely forgot I was in a Protestant Cathedral! hahahaha I'm sure God heard the prayer nonetheless :P

I know, J, such a wonderful idea. I remember when my great grandfather died. I was far away and he was buried the same day (as is the tradition) so I lit a candle that day in the house and took it with me around the house. It offered me some comfort in a difficult time.

Lovely isn't it. I could wallow in those candles all day :o) I can almost smell them burning, see the wafts of smoke and see people filing down the aisle of a church to light one to send up a prayer for whatever their heartfelt wish was.

Christmas Myspace Graphics

I invite you to...

HOLD A VISION

of one candle burning...

at the top of the highest mountain.

One beautiful, pure, white candle,

touching the heavens.

See it in your mind,

feel it in your heart, burning...

burning for you, burning for me,

burning for all of us.

Let this candle be a reminder that we are all ONE.

That we are not separate from each other,

that we are not different at all, on the inside,

where it really matters.

Come with me...

and let us meet there on top of this mountain,

with this one little candle burning,

when your soul is wounded and your body weary.

Let us find strength there in each others light,

comfort in each others love.

Let us join there together and shine that light

and love into the night, into the hearts of all men,

women and children on this planet.

And when you are separated from a loved one,

visit with them at this place,

with this little candle burning,

and tell them of your love.

And when you close your eyes to sleep at night,

remember the little candle waits for you

in your dreams, your dreams for yourself,

your dreams for the world,

your dreams for humanity.

And when your children come to you,

confused and afraid,

tell them of this sacred place,

on top of this mountain and of the little candle

waiting, yearning, burning for them.

Come...come with me now.
