all those sweet and biscuit or toffee i got for change from groceries shop i collect them in one plastic bag in the kitchen. Once is full i hand it over with the drink / fruits i gave away to the labour.

i dont like Lulu centre ... if i do go there i normally go in the morning after school drop off. Never go in the evening or friday/saturday. Cashier in Lulu Centre always looks miserable ... never smile ... leave alone greet you with 'good morning' ...

It's the same in the UK....

Tesco's closes at 10pm on Saturday and nobody is allowed in after 9:45

Basically it means that people can finish what they're doing once they're in but they have to finish by 10pm or be kicked out.

And if you're not in by 9:45 they don't let anyone in.

you should go shopping with my Fifer. I nearly went to hide under the bakery counter when he grabbed half a doz eggs out of my basket and said in a very loud voice "I'm nae payin two fookin pinds ferr six eggs!"

P.S. Like I said in an earlier post he also stands his ground for his 25 dirhums lol (I carry small change and the occasional biscuit).

As I am Scottish I always ask for the money. I get it too. This is a game and helps the profit. I collect the small coins so I always have one.

al Meera trade in biscuits - not seen toffees bartered with there. I reckon a toffee is only worth QR0.10 - but worth buying into, just in case the price rises ;D

Gotta get some toffes...they are gonna be sold out.

I have to be truthful ... I only THOUGHT about taking biscuits with me to the shop cos it made me laugh. I never actually DID it (hehehehe sowwee I lied).

But maybe I shall try it next time I go to al Meera - they would have to accept it as legal tender since they present the same to me and purport it to be legal tender aka QR0.25 :D

ya-ive got a big collcn of toffees too-im forever distributing them to the neighbours' kids-coz i just cant think of eating some of them-have dumped quite a lot too :(

so clever .. actually for me .. i don't bother about it .. so i take the toffee .. i have a lot in my room .. i don't like them and i don't eat them ..

My husband once stood his ground until the cashier in al Meera went and got a bag of cash from the head honcho in his sentry box :D

I sussed this in first week I was here. Now I carry toffees and biscuits with me and if the amount I'm due to pay has an odd QR0.25 in it I give THEM a toffee :o)

Actually, in MegaMart at Centre (by Ramada) they just forget about the odd QR0.25 whichever way it goes, so it evens out in the end I guess.

How many have been fleeced QR 0.25 at the malls?

I m not talking about 0.25 worth of toffee, some cashiers just plain rounded it off. Its not much but it is daylight robbery and they endup making a lot of money (1000 clients*0.25=QR250 per day!!!)

I experienced it at LULU Centre. I was out with the trolley when it struck me that she had rounded off the amount to her favour. I would not have minded had she give me a toffee instead.

Next time it happens I m gonna make sure she gets it from me.

You people have been in Qatar for some time now and should know that 10.45 doesn't mean 10.45.

Even here in our offices many leave by 2.30 although the working hours are until 3 pm. Even our boss went around the department yesterday a 2.50 p.m. and asked ifeverybody was working part time lol.

Buy your bicycle in a bicycle shop, and buy the tools to tighten the screws and bolts with it. In these shops they understand about bicycles and can adcvise you, especially if you are buying it for a small child. Anyone who rides bicycle will tell you that sometims the bolts etc. get loose so it is worthwile when you buy the bike to have a set of tools for it too.

you know why, one day me and husband bought some things and we went to pay the bill.

say the bill was 50.25

she is asking me for the 0.25. i said i do not have and igave her 1 riyal.

then she is returning me.50 and a little toffee or something instead 0.25.

i asked give me 0.25.i do not want tofee. she said she didint have.

i said if u cant give me back 0.25 give my one royal back....

(she asked for .25 from me. but she cant give my change 0.25)

then i grabbed my one riyal from her and I left.

i got so pissed off....

I agree with u in that point that they should mention the last time for getting inside .. so if they wanna close on 10:45 they should put a sign saying 10:30 ... I totally agree with that .. and it will be shorter and easier than putting an explanation putting in mind that some people may not care to read it ..

I went there yesterday to buy my son a bike. He chose the one he wanted and I kindly asked the assistant if he could; tighten the relevant nuts, inflate the tyres ect ect. We returned 15 mins later and thanked him and took the bike to the checkout. As i pushed it through the store i noticed the handlebars were loose and moved indepedently to the front wheel. So i took it back and asked him to tighten it. He tried and tried befroe admitting there was a problem inside !!!!

Ok i thought we'll take the other bike on display, same bike, same price. Unfortunately he informed me this had the same problem...without looking at it. He then informed me both bikes had a sterring problem.

I got angry....why put them on display.....why let me head to the checkout if he knew....

My son's 9. He got a little upset that he couldnt have a bike but he would have been more upset had he fell from the bike and ended up in Hospital.

I wont be back to LuLu. Poor poor poor servce.

I would have gone back but the security guy threatend me saying that he will call the POLICE this is what pissed me off n thats why i stood my ground n told them call who ever u want but i will see that i will go in.

Its the same at Health centres and such. Everything closes at least 15 minutes before the 'closing time' given on the doors. So in Qatar, the rule is... if it closes at 7pm... get there earlier than the 15 minutes before. 6.44pm will be OK... but 6.46 will not ! It just take a bit of getting used to the system.

Of course, someone in Management could always post this explanation on the door... but that is too much like organisation! Chaos must reign for everything to run smoothly.

Unfortunately he is right, because they have a notice on the door that the market will close at 10.45 leaves 15 minutes still before the closing time for prayer.

I imagine that the guard was instructed not to let anyone more in after 10.30. a.m.

thats the door closing time for new customers but the customers inside r there till 11:00

Oops .. u didn't mention that .. i thought it's opening from 10:45 and u went 10:30 ..

But let me tell u something .. he was also right .. cuz closing is 10:45 .. that was closing the door .. so they should prevent people from entering b4 10:45 .. so that they make sure that by this time no one will be inside and all the insiders will be paying and getting out .. so they can close by 10:45 ..

if he allowed someone to go inside at 10:30 or 10:44 as u see it's ur right (from ur point of view) .. then how can they close at 10:45 .. u will never go inside and buy ur things and go out in ONE minute ..

Sorry to say he was right .. again that's only my point of view ...
