Filipinos using tourist visa crackdown at NAIA
I'm sure that most of the filipinos are aware of the recent crackdown activity by the NAIA/NBI/POEA officials regarding filipinos leaving the country on tourist visa - especially those outbound to the Middle East as they are believed to look for work here intending not to return back home and so they are then classified as undocumented OFWs.
However, what if the purpose of the visit here is not to work but to visit???
I know someone who got held at the NAIA last week by the NBI because she was holding a tourist visa to Qatar. After hours of interrogation (also checking all her txt messages...isn't that ridiculous??!!)and missing her flight, they confiscated all her documents, including passport and concluded that she is coming here to work. She was then told to go to the POEA. She went to the POEA the next day and was told to make a write down on a piece of paper what had happened to her at the airport (is this a normal procedure???) then was told that the Director will have to evaluate and decide what will happen...(like what will happen???). She was given their office phone number to follow-up her case....up til now, all they could say is that her case is still being evaluated by the "Director"....those of you who knew people having similar fate in the PI, can you please let us know what happened?? salamat
India has opened up visa to some nation and that Includes Philippines. I heard its effective from Nov.26-10, where Philippine Nationals can secure visa across country upon entering airport in India. Please double check the effective date.
we have entered a new regime, i hope our president can do something about those government employees. they don't take pride on what their doing. :-(
OT: just an observation, government employees(those that i have encountered so far) tend to feel more superior than others. humiliation can be done easily.

It was my flight yesterday in Terminal1 going in Hongkong then New delhi to see my boyfriend and all his family as well. I was been there for one month as Tourist visa also but that time I came from Qatar I was been working there that time. BUt sad to say I missed my flight due for some reason. I went through the immigration counter as my final step before going on my plane. The counter ask me for a letter of invitation from the person I known in India. I never thought that they will still ask this because before you get a visa in embassy of the country you wish to go, all documents should be submitted right? And you cannot get a visa if your not eligible for it. The lady in the counter told me to go to the lady who was sitting near the x-ray machine for final check before you enter the plane. So I went to her and told that the lady in the counter told me to ask you what doc I will need and a form to sign. She said letter of invitation so I ask the staff to get it in my luggage. They helped me to get it and went again in the counter showing that letter already been notarized. I ask if no more problem she said ok so I was about to go put all my hand carry in x-ray machine when the lady whom I ask for form called me. She said wheres the letter I am asking. So I apologize for not coming bak to her and I explained that I ask the lady in the counter if I need to go back to you and she said its ok so why I just go straight. She looked at that letter and said its invalid. It should be notarize in Phil embassy in India and should be sent to me the original. What is that? Yes I agree that this policy should be implemented first in embassy before you get a visa not after and in time where you are already in the airport. Our system is really totally ****.She also ask so many things like how much money I have she said its not enough so I answered her so why I have a guarantor right? And you know how unprofessional this lady is? When I was filling up the form using her pen she told me that heyy your using my pen..What an attitude?I just answered her sorry. Even my past employment she was asking. She asked for a certificate of employment from my past work and I found one and she said again this is invalid because your not working there anymore. I feel so harassed and I didn't control myself to cry in front of her because what we spend for everything is too much then now it end up in nothing. I hope the Phil government should fix first all those workers who are already in abroad suffering from their employer even they have a valid visa and everything for working but still experiencing inhuman treatment. I am starting to hate this country which I know I should not. Everything here is difficult, everything is waste of money. But the gov can't do nothing they are just good for corruption!!!!!
It's sad that this happens.
But at the end of the day, it only takes a few to cause this mess.
Same goes for Arabs in a British airport :p
A few extremists shout something in the name of something and we're all victims.

happens to me last year when I brought my children here. The crocs at immigration tries to harass us as my kids are holding tourist visa. I made a big fight with them and call some personalities... they apologize for their katangahan.
Bottom line, they want lagay!
It happens all the time at the immigration. be prepared!
"waiting is an art, timing is everyting"
it is not a mandate for nbi, immigration, nor naia officers to filter departing pinoys as to what their travel intentions are. there is no law that allows these government agencies to stop us from leaving the country for work or visit visa. for as long as we have valid travel docs (ie. passport, visa, etc) then we are free to leave the country. now whether or not we intend to violate visa or immigration rules of the host country, then it's no longer the problem of the philippine govt.
it's just plain harrasment! anyone who experience this should not go to the POEA but instead, file a criminal or civil suit against these govt people. get a lawyer or get help from IBP or better yet, go to the media & expose them.
under philippine laws, anyone is free to leave the country unless a hold & departure order is issues against him/her.
so to anyone who've experienced this harrasment, sue them sob's!!!
The Philippine Embassy, in fact, cannot do anything. They even advised to report this to the media instead...
I do support their scheme in trying to resolve the problems of undocumented OFW's but they should enforce a proper procedure and/or system. I have also learned that "under the table negotiations" are made inside the Immigration booth at the NAIA..which is pathetic! we should not condone these things happening....
"Apparently you are doing OK, because you are typing and using the net." >>> i don't know what you mean by this...
You need to call your embassy ASAP.
You came to visit on a VISA.
Maybe:
All they are trying to do is protecting themselves of re-circulating labor illegally back to their "Under Paid WORK force" using their allegations of illegal Philippines citizens entering/departing the country.
Apparently you are doing OK, because you are typing and using the net.
