Feeling In Love...

Greeker
By Greeker

It must be a direct result of all those intense love songs that I heard in the calmness of the silence provided by my dear Don Whito Corleone…

The ethereal silence inside my car and the faint chords of melancholy belted out by the soulful Gregorian saints gave me that feeling again…that of feeling in love. The boy was once again little, excitedly hopping ahead to where the sands of time intended to take him. For him, without a doubt, the land of love would be filled with milk and honey and frankincense and myrrh…

…and of course, the girl he went to sleep thinking about, the girl he woke up wishing about…

The first time the boy felt in love was in his sixth grade, when the girl in the blue dress with the blue tiffin box to match offered him a piece of brown bread dabbed in red jam and faint yellow butter… he accepted the bread crumb and along with it, a part of her, into his life…

The feeling stayed for close to six years, until he reached graduation.

During a boring session at the physics lab, there seemed to be one spot that emanated much positive energy. Invariably drawn to its point of origin, the boy stood, and stared. Seated on a high platform, eyes closed in concentration, listening intently to the vibrations of the thin tuning fork, sat the most beautiful being he had ever seen… she struck the tuning fork again and the vibrations seemed to link with his heart, to the very depths of it…

His heart vibrated in tune to the tuning fork… and the girl opened her eyes to him. The boy could do nothing, but melt at the sweet smile the girl gave him…

Eons later, the boy graduated and each went their way, in search of the life they knew they both should lead…separately.

Sometimes, when the boy sees a girl smile, nod her hair away from the forehead while concentrating on the book she is reading, take the extra care to put things back in place, arrange the flowers in breathtaking fashion, smiles at the old lady before helping her cross the road, wave at the school bus filled with grinning children, hand over loose change to the blind man sitting on the road… he would once again feel in love. A love that was never meant to be...

With the faint hum of the air conditioner in his ear and a thousand stars reflected in his eyes, the boy took the right turn, to home and to oblivion.

First kiss in third grade, Scarlett?

I had to wait for twenty four years for mine. And then i kissed in a year and a half what i should have in twenty four.

Then she said she wanted me to let her go... and i did. I havent kissed since.

I live with a lot of beautiful memories. I am content.

Scarlett

that made me remember the first kiss I ever received from a boy...third grade, on the playground. I just KNEW I was in love...funny, isn't it, how the feelings can be so deep for those that are so young and have such an open heart.

thanks for the memory jog, and wonderful writings once again...you make me smile!!

Thanks for all the comments you made on this thread.

@ Novita - ah, the beans. Unfortunately, its still canned, lol!

@ Azzi - old and mature lady? My foot, you are still young and rocking. Dont you ever do the disservice to you again by calling yorself OLD!

@ gypsy gal - It is indeed FEELING in love and not falling. I am not falling in love, but once in a while, i get the feeling in love. The expression was deliberate. I think sometimes they call it a 'çrush' too. And no, i aint feeling a crush on anybody.

@ ksarat - Dude, these words were not meant to be heavy. Unfortunately, in the end, everything i write turns out that way (if at all). I will try to keep it sprite lite!

@ r7 - me in love with you? you sure you got the right person here? lol.

@ owen - its nice to feel mushy and warm inside once in a while.

touch wood it's been ok here. I live near the Great Ouse (doesn't everyone?) and so far it hasn't broken it's banks.

But from what I hear on the news the floods around UK, in some places, are the worst for about 100+ years :(

I feel so sorry for the people affected by this - I can't imagine how I'd cope if it happened to me.

The houses I had in South London have the River Ravensbourne at the end of the gardens, but happily it was 'contained' many years ago so I never had to worry.

Aah, you're making me suffer...thirty years is a long time. You'll have a life event and then the motivation will follow long before then I think...I hope.

Thanks for the warm words. Writing a book is not easy. I dont have the motivation or a subject with me now. Someday, when i have spent thirty years in Qatar like a lot of my fellow country men, trying to build a safe life at home, then i would have enough material to write a book.

Once again, thanks for the kind words.
