I have been saying it over & over again: the administration of this website is not fair, selective, double-standard and has "special arrangements" with some users.

I know a member who was warned to be "banned next time" yesterday, her very dirty words were deleted today after she lost it all, and was warned to be "banned next time" a while ago!!! (just think of the amount of special arrangement going on here) while I was banned for 14 times so far (although nothing in the rules of the game allows them to ban me)

Actually one of the moderators once said: "this is MY playground and MY rules"

After a while when you realize that this actually a private website for a group of people, you will start loosing interest in it.

I dont have to follow rules if they are wrong or if nobody is following them. Actually I have the right to teach people to respect others just like we teach our children to do so. I am also happy to address "trash" when I see it.

You can not generlize here. You either accuse me of something & provide evidence to support your accusations, or you apologize when you have no grounds. This is the justice I believe in.

Once again I am advising you to be brave enough to take my discussions with gypsy & novita here, as an example & be brave enough to tell the wrongfull party that they are not allowed to say this & that (and provide the verse by copy & paste)

See my above discussion with novita, for example. See the way I was talking to her, and see how suddenly, out of the blues, for no reason, she start of accusing me of bad things. I thought that QL was made up of adults who can openly discuss matters (who cares if we are from the East, West, North or South) in the end we are all visitors to this earth irrelative of our skin colours, ethnic backgrounds or nationality.

How come my post on page 1, where I specifically pointed out that mir had edited his post, was completely overlooked!

Mir's post originally made accusations about Westerners, calling them 'faithless' amongst other things but, as can happen in this forum, he was editing his words while Gypsy was at the same time typing and posting her response and consequently her reply to him made it look like she was accusing him of something he hadn't said!

It's not unusual for this to happen if someone changes their mind about their post whilst an answer is being prepared, but in a thread like this it was unfortunate, to say the least.

I particularly made mention of this at the time so as to avoid a misrepresentation of Gypsy's comment.

1.The administration of this website is corrupt. There is nothing in their (funny) guidelines that allows them to ban people. They just do it because they dont like to abide to their own (funny) guidelines.

2.Some members who do not like the facts I face them with, they have "special arrangements" & "suspecious liasons" with the corrupt administration of this website, and they simply ask them to block people.

3.It is very wrong sometimes to carry an olive branch & a white dove....because all you will get in the end is being banned (here) or being shot (in Palastine)

This administration is taking this website down to the gutters, day after day.

I completely agree with Jauntie on his very first post. It really depends on the lifestyle one adopts. That is the wonderful diversity we live in.

I love the fact that we live in a multi-cultural society. And that debates can be had (when intelligence rules over pride)in an open-minded manner.

There is no western and non-western. It's so sad when you have people on QL that don't actually 'read' the posts and just attack. Freedom of expression is a democratic value, not a 'western' one.

Westerners, Asian, Indians, MiddleEasterns etc are all people at the end of the day no one should be judged by where they come from. I am born & raised in Australia (a very multicultural country) where there's people from all walks of life. AS a child my parents have always taught me to respect others no matter where they're from as god has created them all. I have taught my kids the same thing.

Saying someone is Arab or African is a lot more specific then saying someone is a Westerner or Eastern, or even Asian. It's like saying someone is European or Oriental or Latino, you are breaking it down into racial categories rather then "thought" categories.

The strange thing about an identity is that you only start to feel your own identity once you enter an environment in which most people have a different identity... To take my own life as an example, I started feeling Dutch when I moved to Denmark. I started to feel European when I moved to Japan. And the first time I felt like a "westener" was when I came to the Middle East. I think most of us define "what we are" mostly by what we are not... And similarly we define others by "how they are not like us".

So when I talk to Europeans, I will feel Dutch, but when I talk to someone from a very different background (be it Middle Eastern, African or Asian), I will probably feel western.

So to me, arabs are people from the Middle East, Africans are people from Southern Africa, but my concept of westeners is very weak... I don't see westeners, I see Americans, Canadians, Australians, French, English, Germans...

My guess is that it's the same for Asians, they'll see Indonesians, Malaysians, Vietnamese etc. Am I right Azi?

I didn't bash any cultures. And Westerners are not faithless, they just have different things to be faithfull to. Like the idea of human rights, or equality, or more liberal views of religion as opposed to rigid beliefs of what is right or wrong.

i am turkish and i also think we are close to greeks,italians,spanish, armanians and some arabs.

in some cases i think i am more like norhtern:p and i am from north side of turkey where climate is always rainy and foggy:) and all green.

1- turkey

To me Western is a bit of a geographical, racial thing and a bit of a cultural things. Geographically if you were born in Europe,North America, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa you are a Westerner, as these are considered the Western countries. They are considered the Western countries because of the high number of white people that live there, and those white people all came from Western Europe.

However, I prefer, and I think the more modern attitude, is to think of Westerner as simply a person with a more liberal attitude towards life. Less religious, doesn't get offended by the idea of homosexuality or children out of wedlock, is for legalized cannabis, feminist, etc. Those who basically have a live and let live mentality. I think that this idea pretty much encompasses the idea of a Westerner today. So really anyone can be a Westerner if they are influenced by Western Ideology.

For example I consider Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, Phillipines, Vietnam, Lebanon and the U.A.E to be very "Western". In that they tend to have more people who think in that liberal manner, even though they are traditionally Eastern countries.

to my understanding, although my country is a member of the European Union, I find more common things with Syrians, Egyptians, Lebanese or Turkish than with Scandinavians, British or Central Europeans. I guess climatic conditions is a key factor of peoples (at nation level) behavior. Whereas a lot of systems have been adopted by the government of Cyprus in the last few decades in order to conform with EU accession, the ethics and customs of a place don't really change that fast.

From what i read from the threads here in QL from the 1st day I became a member, connotations of a "westerner" is based on the skin color and not the actual country or the country's geography.

I'm a Filipina and an Asian but not all folks I met here in Qatar knows that...They just say Philipini and not Asian...I think it's funny. (Solely my opinion)

noticed you didnt mention the Middle Eastern lifestyle. I dont necessarily like the "swooping between two hemispeheres" I would say I would tolerate it to an extent.

And you don't have to be Asian to adopt an Asian lifestyle.

Like Richard said, it doesn't necessarily have to do with geography.

In geography there is a western and eastern hemisphere.

In life today there is a lot of culture swopping between the two hemispheres. Which is probably how it should be.

Just my first thoughts.
