I'm Canadian however my wife is Indonesian (Java East).

Is there an Indonesian community in Qatar and where do they tend to meet / hang out?

life for indonesian women who married an expat just like any other expat wife. They do have a weekly/monthly gathering in the embassy for 'arisan' (not my cup of tea so i never attend them).

Coffee morning in each other's houses... play date with the kiddies, birthday parties, etc etc.

Shopping ... a girlie night out ... :-0

I will PM you my site address and my contact number ... you can show it to your wife.

Actually we were in Singapore on year 2000 too (my husband worked for local company in Pemimpin Drive and we lived in Sin Ming Plaza at upper thomson road) ... again what a small world. Probably we bumped into each other somewhere in Orchard Road but we never know :-)

Do drop me a line when you get here ...

Take care

Appreciated IOU. We expect to arrive in late September and will probably connect with Indonesian's as we settle in. We will also check the embassy as you suggest.

Thanks for your message Novita77 and sorry for the delay in replying. We are not actually in Doha yet. We expect to arrive as a family in late September.

My wife was actually born in Surabaya and lived there for most of her youth but moved to Singapore in 2000 which is where we met. We are now in Montreal, Canada waiting for the move to Qatar.

Do you have any comments about life for Indonesian women in Qatar?

I think your wife can find info from Indonesian Embassy. And there are lots of Indonesian in Al Khor Community but I am not sure about specific Indonesian Community, I had been in a couple of Indonesian Weddings and my circle of friends are age 20-30. I will try to ask their parents.

Hope this will help you to have an idea!

Cheers!
