Is there any kind of Book Club here where you can swap/exchange western english novels (Modern) books, most have been bought here but would be great to swap if other people who also read lots.

If anybody is interested or knows of anything then let me know.

I'm a new member here at QL and I joined for the main reason of searching for an art/literary scene here in Doha. I would love to join any book club discussion group and participate in book swaps as well. I have my own little library at home and I continue to expand it. More than anything I think it would be nice to have a group to get together and discuss books and exchange ideas.

Please help me! I've been starved for something like this since I arrived in Doha last year.

Yeah..we definetely need Book club.

Rules needs to be formalised about sharing/lending/time-duration/non-return, etc..

So, Gentleman or lovely lady - step forward please..to start the group.

So? What should we do to start a book club. I also have a lot of books and new magazines sent every month that I'm sure others would enjoy (Time, National Geographic, Reader's Digest, Kiplinger's). Love to read, but not much time for the magazines. What do you suggest, Qatari?

It would be great if we swap ours, my son and myself are looking for this kind of books. We can crcultae them among all of the interested ones, provided that who takes a book has to return it.

This is a great idea. I too have lots of old english Novels. Most of them i have already read. Is there any charity place where i can give away these books. It would be better than throwing them away.

are in the days hmph! Maybe we could start up a book club here that would be good! I have heaps and heaps at home but can be a bit hesitant about lending out as you may not get back! we could have a book discussion thread about what books are good!

Check out www.bookcrossing.com - there are a few people from Qatar on there, but we could do with more ;-)

Also, JG Sandwich shop has a (very small) book exchange library shelf.
