Riding the Sand Dunes

Dunes
By Dunes

I'll be in Qatar April 20th - 26th. And would love to ride the dunes. Does anyone know of a place I could rent a dirtbike. I know they rent ATVs, but I'm hoping to find something on 2 wheels. I would rent anything that has enough power to ride the sand.

Cheers...

P.S. At home, I ride a CRF 450 and RM 250.

Yeah thexonic, I could give you one advice: you are as young as you feel, and when you are surrounded by young people, you have no choice. That keeps you young all the time.

Thex, he is 17, now in Grade 12, last year at school, and my daughter is 15, and my other daughter is 36, and my grandson is 8, and my granddaughter is 3, I guess. And I feel like I'm 12 most of the time.

Morning, thex. Well I bought one for my son, (used one, Chinese, very bad). I wanted him to understand how it works. So he had to take it apart and put it back together. That's my way of a present. See my avatar, that's the one.

Salwa Road between "Decoration roundabout" and "MidMac flyover on the left side (looking from Ramada junction) there is Honda,(ATV and bikes) right below the "MidMac" flyover on Salwa Road on the right side is Yamaha. Suzuki is near the airport.

There's a shop at Selene petrol station, halfway between Wakra and Messaid that sell and rent quads and buggies (not sure about 2 wheelers though). Shop has big "Banshee" sign on it - you can't miss it.

Ofcourse there is Bike Shops in Qatar! If you want Bikes of 2 Wheels like YAMAHA, SUZUKI, Kawasaki, etc... There is a Showroom Near Al Sadd Plaza. The Showroom is with the Al Fardan BMW Showroom.

But I don't think that there is any Dirt Bikes place to rent in Qatar. In Sealine the is only 4 wheel bikes. I only know the prices of Fiday;

400cc - QR150-QR200

I cant't remember any other prices

:-(

Sorry JBH, for late reply. I dont think there is age limit for riding the quad. I've seen some small boys maybe around 7 or 8 ages riding around all the time in sea line. 10 is a good age to start. I am sure he will enjoy so much. Just make sure he wear safety outfit.

My son will be 10 in November.

He has ridden before in the UK.

Is it legal to just take a quad out and ride around the dunes?

Are there any age limits etc.?

how old is your son? for sure you can rent a quad at sealine beach resort. if you talking for buy go to suzuky or yamaha shop. better rent first and let your son have a try. good luck and have fun this weekend.

I have stuck my neck out and promised my son I will but him a quad bike so he can razz around the sand in it.

Is this feasable?

Do people go quad biking?

For dirt biking in Qatar, please send an e-mail to [email protected] to get registered on the distribution list. This is a distribution list that the dirt bikers in Qatar have for setting up times and places to meet to go biking on the weekends. A lot of people meet at 8am (or earlier depending on the time if year … earlier during the hot season) on Friday mornings at Sea Line to go for a ride, the distribution list is used as a communication tool between the riders to formalize these dates and times

Yes, Friday and Saturday. There are tons of ATV rental guys around the dunes. I haven't seen any dirt bikes out there but that doesn't mean you couldn't trailer one out there. I would suggest NOT going on Friday or Saturday. It's crazy out there.

Thanks - I've only ridden in Glamis, CA. Do you know if the sand is softer in Qatar?

Weekends - does that mean Friday and Saturday?

There are dirtbikers enough for sure but unfortunately they only go the weekend and I haven't kept in touch. I'll ask my neighbour, he's got one....................I'll get back to u if I find out. (banshees are more fun in the soft dunes !)

I don't know the ATV rental fees. Sealine does say they have them.

I still haven't heard about Dirtbike rentals for the dunes. Is there a group of dirtbikers that go to the dunes?

I looked at Sealines website and it mentions ATVs, Camel riding, Jetskies, but no mention of Dirtbikes? It does seem like the place to start the ride into the dunes.

What do people do about equipment -- helmets, boots, etc...?

Is their a motorcycle shop in Qatar that sell motocross bikes?

Thanks...
