We are moving to Qatar in August and I have been looking on websites for airfares. Has anyone had experience of on-line booking as the airfares appear to be much cheaper, especially business class to London. This is if you don't fly direct with Qatar Airways. Can I mention websites here?
My parents regularly visit us and as they have relatives in the Uk they have found it much more economical booking a flight from Perth to England, via Middle East as a stopover.
Recently they travelled Malaysian Air to KL then Qatar Air to Doha then Qatar Air to London. Malaysian Airlines were codesharing.
Alternatively, there is Emirates Airlines which fly from Perth to Dubai direct, then you connect to a plane to Doha. Again you could do the Emirates flight direct to UK via middle east (although you need to shop around for a good price for the Dubai to Doha route, can get quite expensive at times, my parents have used their frequent flyer points for this leg)
If you plan on visiting the UK, you may be able to book this route then take your onward journey later, depending on the conditions of the ticket.
I also just read in the local newspaper here than Qantas have now come to some sort of agreement with Qatar Air. But it's looks like it's going to be effective from next year .. but doesn't say exactly what cities they will be servicing.
