BOY & GIRL SLEEP-OVERS

By Gavin Sellars •
Hi everyone!
My girlfriend and I are a couple of Aussies about to begin work in Doha and we have each recieved our own accommodation and packages from our respective new employers. We understand that couples cannot live together out of wedlock, and have no issue with these laws. My company said that females are not allowed to stay with me overnight, whereas my girlfriends company said that it was ok for me to stay over at her place. There is obviously some grey areas in how the laws are interpreted. Are couples allowed to sleep over 'here and there'?
Has anyone come across similar issues, and what did you do?? We'd appreciate some insiders info.
Thanks for the help everyone. Understanding the fact that there is no 'grey areas' of this subject gives us the knowlegde to stay clear of trouble. BTW, to say "be careful with Qataris and don't make any dispute with them" is an odd comment. Whilst in a foreign country, a dispute with anyone could go horribly wrong. From what I hear, Qataris are fantastic people, and Doha is a very safe place to live.
Looking forward to it all!
actually in Qatar it is illegal not only this most of the laws in qatar are only for some nationalities and u r not from the list of those nationalities. you can live any where or everywhere. I know here so many company's accommodation are where unmarried peoples r living but they all r European or American. i think you can live here as suppose to be in ur country. but be carefull with Qataris and dont make any dispute with them. wish u good luck.
Good bye
"Are couples allowed to sleep over 'here and there'?" No. But 99 percent of the time no one would know or care. But since you've already told people you plan to, that's a little more awkward.
Most people I know who live with their unmarried partner are "out" to their ex-pat friends, but tell everyone else they are married. So they are married at work, married to compound security, married at the gym, married when trying to get into the family section at the tennis last weekend. They don't wear rings and no one asks for proof, so it's really easy to pass as married.
People do live together here without being married ... of course it's illegal so better not hang posters on the wall.
actually thats depend on the nationalities ... have u seen alot of news on the paper ... so and so nationalities caught with so and so nationalities. Always asian origin. But i never heard about western nationalities get caught.
And i know for a fact one of the ambassador in Qatar living with his girlfriend.
yay novita...its no longer discreet.
well lots of things go on here like margaret very rightly put it.......you just gotto be careful and not get caught.dont rub anyone the wrong way that they may wish to go squeal on you.
happy heart
drive safe because someone is waiting for you at home
Probably when you asked this sort of question you shouldn't use your real name.
Its illegal but people do it.
Be very discreet.
