L parking and S parking tips please
Hello Everyone,
Last Feb 22 i woke up early at 4am to take a driving test at Doha Driving School. I was so excited for at last, my long wait is over. I was the first guy there and it was still dark and so cold and I forgot to bring my jacket. Then I failed the test. Oh man! I felt the earth was falling down on me!
But as far as I know, I never made mistakes. I never hit the poles and I believe I did all the parking well. When I asked the police in charge, I asked, "why?", then he simply said, "kalash, failed". Again I asked, "why". Then he said nothing.
That was my first direct test. Now I am waiting again for a re test which I don't know yet when.
Can anyone give me advise in L parking and S parking? Maybe I did not do their procedure well. I am about to be shifted to another position in my company because I dont have a license because my work is Marketing. My boss might put me in the tea boy head department. (Kidding)

my story even worst.. after finished all the test smoothly. they told me Im failed. on the half way back home I`v doubt. then I go back. then suddenly I check the paper showed that I passed.

It is ok to failed once and twice while you know what is the reason. If you finished the 'L' and 'S' that means that nothing was wrong. Because they will not let you move to the 'S' until you finish first of all the 'L' and that's it. Maybe when you park the car in the Parking, the tire or the car wheel was on the line or hitting the line. In that case even if you did not hit the poles you are failed. All the car should be behind the line and no tires should be on the line. I guess that there were no line out there, how can he tell you that? I mean most of them are fade away until something different is going in these schools these days.

actually i play classic guitar i play only classic and trying to learn my self flamenco .. i'm not into punk rock or metal ..
but i play slow metal also like "nothing else matter" "one" "unforgiven 1" i only listen to Metallica in metal.. how many years r u playing guitar.. we can do something to enjoy ourselves.. and tell me wut kind of guitar do u play..

for Kikomodos: believe me man it's just written in the form but it's canceled.. i took my license from just one month ago.. ask any body in the school and they will tell u that it was canceled..
for roycetronic: the L is very easy ..
1- the L is on ur left side .. b4 entering it try to go further towards the right side .. that will give u space to go into it without hitting the poles.. and put ur leg on the patrol pedal more enough cuz it's going up and to force the gravity..
2- there is a line in the middle of that L letter.. u should brake on it (approx. in the half way of it) then pull up ur hand brake.
3- press on patrol pedal n make it constant .. ( means the noise is not increasing) then put ur hand on the hand brake (DO NOT PUT IT DOWN NOW) raise ur leg from the clutch slowly.. when the noise of the patrol disappear obviously fix ur leg on the clutch.. don't raise or push again .. fixit like that with the patrol then put down the hand brake..
4- after the car goes up .. brake n change the gear to rear.. then ur leg fully on clutch and ur other on brake .. very very slowly raise ur leg from the brake .. keep controlling the car with the brake .. forget the patrol here..
5- Important tip: leave a space on the right hand side about 1/3 and leave about 2/3 on the left side .. and go down (u can adjust this while u r going up) keep on going n looking behind till 1/3 of ur car from behind goes after the last pole on the corner (right side)
6- totally brake and steer ur steering all to right side n start go back slowly till u r down .. once u r down steer the steering to center .. so that if u go back u will go back in a straight line.. (it gets centered by about 2 rounds of steering towards the left side) and here u go ..

For the "L' parking, got any advise?
They let me took the pocket parket first then the L parking.
Maybe i commited a mistake with L parking.
By the way, I am also a guitarist. I play punk rock and metal!

I didn't take lessons. I took a direct test. If you have your license in your country (valid and not expired)you can take the test but in your case i reckon you must take lessons.
I paid 50/- for the registration and 80/- for the day of the test.
That 80/- is for the rental of the car you will drive. Pretty much to pay for a test. I like drove the car for less than 10 mins.
The car is not automatic and not power steering.
If you want to take driving lessons, I believe you will have to wait for not less than two months to start. So register as soon as you can.

Ram, there's an "S" Parking. We all took that after the "L". It's written on the form as well.
FIRST OF ALL THERE IS NO S PARKING .. FOR THE "L" I WANNA ASK U A QUESTION.. AFTER U FINISHED THE L U GO TO THE POCKET PARKING .. IF YES THEN U PASSED THE L AND U FAILED IN THE POCKET PARKING..
FOR THE POSCKET PARKING ... FROM UR FIRST TRY TO ENTER IT IF UR FRONT WHEEL IS STILL TOUCHING THE LINE THEN U FAILED.. AND I GUESS THAT IS THE REASON..
POCKET PARKING TIPS: LEAVE A SPACE ABOUT 50 CMS BETWEEN U N THE POLES.. GO BACK WITH UR CAR UNTILL U CANNOT SEE THE POLE AT THE CORNER FROM THAT PAD BETWEEN THE REAR WINDOW AND THE REAR RIGHT SIDE WINDOW.. THEN STOP .. TOTALLY STOP .. TURN THE WHEEL TO FULL RIGHT AND ADJUST UR LEFT MIRROR ON THE BACK WHEEL..
GO BACK SLOWLY.. UNTILL U SEE UR BACK WHEEL IN THE MIRROR JUST TOUCHED THE LINE.. AGAIN BRAKE N STOP AND TURN THE WHEEL TOTALLY TO THE LEFT SIDE.. GO BACK WHILE LOOKING AT UR CAR FROM FRONT RIGHT SIDE TO MAKE SURE THAT U R NOT GOING TO HIT THE POLE .. IF IT PASS START TO LOOK BEHIND TILL U REACH THE POLES .. TAKE CARE DON'T EVEN TOUCH THEM.. THEN STOP N LOOK AT UR FRONT WHEEL THRUGH UR WINDOW .. IF IT IS INSIDE THE LINE .. U R OK .. IF IT'S TOUCHING THE LINE THEN U R IN TROUBLE..
INCASE UR FRONT WHEEL IS INSIDE THE LINE: TURN THE WHEELS FULL TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND HERE U R INSIDE THE POCKET PARKING..
WAIT !!!! THE MISSION IS NOT COMPLETE YET .. U HAVE TO GET IT OUT .. WHILE TURNING THE WHEELS TOTALLY TO RIGHT SIDE GO BACK TILL U REACH NEAR THE POLES.. THEN ...TURN WHEELS FULLY TO LEFT SIDE AND MOVE FORWARD A LITTLE BIT .. DON'T MOVE TOO MUCH .. THEN GO BACK AGAIN AFTER TURNING WHEELS TO RIGHT SIDE THEN AGAIN TURN WHEELS TO LEFT SIDE N HERE U GO OUT ...
TAKE CARE .. AFTER U PARK UR CAR U HAVE ONLY 2 TIMES TO GO BACK WITH UR CAR WHILE GETTING IT OUT...
TAKE CARE .. IN THE BEGINING U HAVE TO ENTER UR CAR FROM ONE TIME GOING BACK AND ONE TIME GOING FORWARD AS I EXPLAINED..
LISTEN THIS PARKING IS FINELY MEASURED .. UR SPACE BETWEEN UR CAR N THE POLES ON UR RIGHT HAND SIDE SHOULD NOT EXCEED THE 50 CMS AND NOT LESS THEN 30 CMS .. OR BE SURE THAT UR CAR WILL NOT GO INTO IT..

I paid 1100 for 25 days class and 50 for the test. cleared out the 1st time. Guess i was damn lucky!!!!!!!
1st TIP--------Try to attend the test in the afternoon.
2nd TIP-------- As long as you dont hit the poles u will be fine.

Hi. I can advice practice, practice and practice.
People, specially for most of us who have been driving back from own country for many years are normally confident sincewe have been doing this for ages, peanuts.
In Gulf Driving School the L parking is a bit uphill, which becomes a bit more tricky than the usual.
Besides, practice makes perfect.
