With which right?

I have a small gym in my compound and when i am going there i wear shorts. The result: one of my neighbours, a lady, complained about me and my shorts. And i was in my compound!! What is that now?

And now i have started wondering if i go to a hotel lets say intercontinental and i wear, ...lets say a short skirt, is there any chance to experience any critisism there as well? To which places are we allowed to dress ourselves as we want?. I don't have in my mind an extreem way of dressing. Until now i though that to wear shorts in the gym (which is in my compound!!) was something normal...What about if I want to swim at compound's pool with a bikini? I dont even dare to think about it!

suzanna, this one lady, did she speak directly to you, was she an arab or muslim, then she may have her grounds to voice her opinions, after all you are living in a compound and well this being a arab country you may have to respect certain things, even if just one person complaining.

then again, it would be wise for you to speak to her and confront this situation, no need to be tough, a few choice words can put a lot of things in perspective.

just a thought, if one complained, is it possible that other women in the compound too probably object, and if they do, you need to find out why, she probably thought herself to be bold to face the music with you if you decided to create one.all dependn on what sort of compound you are living in.personally i dont see anything wrong in you wearing shorts to the gym, but you need to sort this out in your compound. is it just her and her sad attitude to you or something else.

if it doesnt bother you at all, just ignore this, until she does it again.i think she will complain again.

regarding bikinis, well i have been to sealine and i have seen women in the skimpiest of bikinis, so its cool.

the best solution is for u to ignore her.. a compound's gym is like ur own gym in ur house.. n if u cant be comfortable in ur own home.. where else can u be? and its only shorts! so if ur neighbor has a problem, tell her to deal wit it :) if ur gonna lsn to everyones critisism ull never be able to do anythin interesting in ur life :) ciao now :)

I doubt if the compound will stipulate what you can wear when in the compound and even less so in the gymn.

You may have met the only person that would complain Suzanna.

In respect of wearing a bikini at the pool. The Ramada once initiated a rule of ladies being allowed to wear single piece swimsuits only. This was because some of the Brazilian ladies were wearing thongs and teeny tops.

The Ladies complied by linking the top and bottom of the bikinis with a very thin strip of material. Problem solved

I have heart something at the news ones. It was said that there was a muslim teacher in France who had her face coverred when she was teaching. Some of the parents complained and supported their complains that their kids were feeling accomfortable. So the school asked the teacher to change her way of dressing. But that was part of her culture wasn't it?. Who was right and who was wrong in that case? Tell me QtriCanada.

Whille i totally understand ur frustration about being criticised for wearing shorts in a GYM of all places, its always wise to try and not to aggrivate the people around us ....

may be u can find out why ur nieghbour found it offensive ( if at all), that u were waering shorts in the gym ...

or may be u can wear shorts that might be less " contreversial"

or u can simply ignore the whole thing all together and dismiss it as an isolated incident...

i bet u if u talked to that nieghbour of urs for 5 minutes in a friendly way, u can wear the shorts u like to the gym without having 2 worry about negative comments anymore:)

what do u think?

either one of them ,,, wat i'm saying is just to respect the people who r living with u ... Finally, the only thing that might solve this issue is looking for the rulse of this compund ,,, and see who is right ......

You have repeated my point exactly.

Compound where suzanna is living might be the one where this kind of clothes are allowed and only one lady is objecting.

You tell me who should be looking for a new house??????

Ok … I agree with you ,, but u live in a compound not in a privet Villa ,, so you have to respect the people who r living with you ,, I'm I right mate !!!!! also why you did not tell suzanna to (WITH ALL RESPECT TO her) look for other accommodation where this kind of clothes is allowed ,,,

Does living in a country also requires somebody to adhere to dress code inside house. Compound is a sort of a enclosed community whrere one should be able to live comparative freedom than other areas of the city.

I think if majority in the compound is comfortable with suzanna dress, then the objecting lady should look for another accommodation.

Well sorry to say that, but you have to respect the country that your living in,, if this kind of clothes is not appropriate so get along with it ,,,

That’s it,,,,

Haven't people got anything better to do with their time other than complaining about other's personal choices as to what to wear?

Honestly, this things get on my nerves.

I get that kind of thing all the time. Just ignore it. A gym is a gym.

just a jealous neighbor who is too fat to wear shorts. Don't worry about it. What kind of compound do you live in?

I would simply ignore it. You're in a compound, not walking around in the middle of town, and you're only going to the gym, not just walking around the compound in short shorts. It's totally normal and allowed for you to wear shorts in the gym.

If one person has a problem with that, ignore it. They can't exactly do anything about it anyway.

do you look good in shorts? I mean I would complain if it was just too much. Like 80's flourescent pink and really really tight.
