Anyone here work for Qatar Airways?
Hello.I currently work for a major US airline with over 9years experience and am considering applying to Qatar Airways in cargo services. If anyone could give me advice on what kind of salary I could expect, how would it compare with my annual salary in the US($40,000 per year before taxes),would a Qatar Airways salary cargo services position pay enough to live decently in Qatar(apartment, transport, food, utilities, transport, entertainment, save some money). How are work conditions?2days off per week?lunch and restroom breaks?time off to enjoy flight benefits?vacation and sick time?good health care benefits(medical/dental)?generally decent people to work with?or treated as a slave?any relocation assistance?housing assistance?good opportunities for advancement?those are my questions.I have been watching the rapid growth of Qatar Airways (along with Emirates and Etihad)and would like to be part of a young, growing, wide bodied planes carrier as long as the opportunities are there.Looking foward to your replies and advice!Sean
Sean, looking at the current state of US airline industry, I'd suggest you move. I'm not familiar with payscales for cargo service operators, but I'm sure you can make more than USD 40K with no taxes.
Yeh Novita... that's why I posted that up there... everyone thinks they are moving onto greener pastures, but in reality, not all are all that successful...

In a poor zoo of Pakistan, a lion was frustrated as he was offered not more than 1 kg of meat a day.
The lion thought its prayers were answered when one day a Dubai Zoo Manager visited the zoo and requested the zoo management to shift the lion to Dubai Zoo.
The lion was so happy and started thinking of a central A/c environment, a goat or two every day.
On its first day after arrival, the lion was offered a big bag, sealed very nicely for breakfast. The lion opened it quickly but was shocked to see that it contained few bananas. The lion thought that may be they cared too much for him as they were worried about his stomach as he had recently
shifted from Pakistan.
The next day the same thing happened. On the third day again the same food bag of bananas was delivered.
The lion was so furious; it stopped the delivery boy and blasted at him,'don't you know I am the lion...king of the Jungle..., what's wrong with your management? What nonsense is this? Why are you delivering bananas to me?'
The delivery boy politely said, 'Sir, I know you are the king of the jungle ... but... you have been brought here on a monkey's visa!!!
