Dear all,

I am not a fond user of the forum and I normally don't write about the low standards of service delivered in Qatar. But I really feel you should read this review about the company I recently used for a local move. I moved to Qatar almost 5 years ago from Dubai where I used a company called Santa Fe. No complaints about them. They did a pretty good job. This time, someone I know gave me the name of a company called MoveOne, although they haven't used them. I called them and I called another company as well to compare quotes. The manager of MoveOne showed up nicely dressed with his fancy car and he did a lot of tapping on his iPad during the inspection of the house. The gentlemen from the other company was more casually dressed, show up in a normal car and took notes on a form.

I got both quotations and at the end I decided to go for MoveOne even if they were more expensive than the other company but sure they looked more professional.

That was the MISTAKE.

On the packing day the team showed up and started to pack. After less than an hour I was calling the manager asking to come over and look at his worker's job. I was shocked by the lack, not only of professionalism, but of common sense in general, on packing. They were using a layer of cling wrap to pack wooden furniture with sharp corners, putting wooden chairs one on top of the other so that the back of the chair standing upside-down was scratching the floor, they didn't have the proper packing equipment like cardboard corners to protect the furniture, special boxes for chairs, or anything like that. As the boxes were leaving my house I noticed that they were not compiling a packing list and they were not numbering boxes. They only started to do it after I told them to. On a large number of boxes it wasn't written which room they belonged to (so that when they were delivered to the new house we had to open them to see where they were going). After they dismantled a sofa bed, I found all the bolts and screws in the corner of the room but the sofa bed was gone already. Obviously the manager never showed up making up excuses for not being able to come over.

When they delivered the goods to my new home I was expecting some damage and of course there was. Several chipped or scratched corners of furniture, a part of my road bike broken due to wrong packing, they couldn't find the stand that supports the TV (they detached it from the TV but put it in a different place and I have not found it yet. I also have to find the little bag where I put all the bolts and screw belonging to the sofa bed so at the moment the sofa bed and the tv lay in pieces and are not usable.

I called the manager to show him the extremely low quality if the job and asked for a compensation at least for the biggest damage to the furniture. He said that I wasn't entitled to anything as I did not take up the extra insurance and "according to the terms and conditions....".

I understand I took my chance by not taking insurance (he actually advised me that it was not really necessary as it was a local move and nothing could really happen...) but I believe the insurance should cover accidents, not negligence of the packers. I feel sorry for these guys who were working hard and I blame the whole thing on the lousy training that they have received.

I know it was a long post but I really wanted to highlight the poor performance of MoveOne and hope that it helps people to stay away from them.

Maybe other companies are as bad but for sure they are cheaper. Don't be fooled by the first impression with the manager. The reality is different and you end up regretting your choice when your beloved belongings are ruined.

Do not engage with Runway. They are not sure of custom and other procedure and will take your goods and charge you very high and start asking bothering you with delivery details and custom queries. We used Yafa Cargo also and found them good and fast however they don't do packing.

AVOID AGAPE INTERNATIONAL!!

Worst company that you can choose! So disappointed with them and now I have to spend time and money to contact lawyers and take them to court!

They will take your money and your things and from then on stop answering emails and phone calls and when you are able to catch them (from friend's phone) they keep telling lies! It took them few weeks just to ship our things and since then we have no clue where are shipment is. Also, we paid insurance for our items which we NEVER got!!

AVOID AGAPE and NIXON and MUNEER- very unprofessional two thiefs!!

Please DO NOT USE AGAPE INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS. It extremely unreliable. They say it takes3-5 days but I took 7 WEEKS from DOHA to DUBAI which most of you know its a 45 minutes flight!!!! the owner Mr. DOESNT WANT TO SAY HIS NAME, its extremely RUDE, UNAPOLOGETIC and a LIAR most of the time doesnt answer the phone and has inepts working for him who are also LIARS!!!!!!! I hate doing this but AGAPE INTERNATIONAL LOGGISTICS made me wait all this time on an empty apartment with no clothes for 7 weeks! When I asked for my money back he said no and stopped taking my calls. PLEASE BEWARE!!

After reading your comments, I thought I'd give Mr Kabeer a ring yesterday. He arranged to come over... and I waited for 5 hours for him. When I tried to ring him to find out where he was, he didn't answer - I called four times. Then today he rang and said he was outside my place - apart from the fact that I'm working today and he's 24 hours late.... Hardly reliable, so just as well I'm not taking him

On the upside, I tried Runway International. They turned up on time, took 10 minutes assessing everything and asking all the right questions... they may be more expensive than Kabeer, but at least they'll show up!

As I wrote earlier, I got my stuff moved last year. He is very professional, cheap and takes care of your stuff.

I used Mr. Kabeer for my recent move within Doha.

His price was very reasonable, a third of the price of the major moving companies.

They packed everything up for me. I had to organise my own boxes which I did from QMart at the Mall, and they put all my stuff into them for me.

They were quite careful with my stuff and no serious damage was incurred, but I had to supervise that they packed the fragile items carefully, and instruct them on what to put in each box.

I strongly recommend him, but as with any move, supervise that the valuables and fragiles items are packed carefully or even better, by yourself. Also, be on hand to manage the packing.

For me it was a lumpsum job. First he will come and have a look at the things requiring relocation and then he will tell you a lumpsum price. However, packing (ie emptying all cupboads etc) has to be done by yourself prior to his coming to your house for transporting. He will do all the dismantling of furniture etc.
