Its been an immense pleasure for me to introduce myself infront of the valuable strangers!! You guys made life easier for the freshers and new comers who are looking and willing to relocate to Qatar.

I got selected for Qatar Airways,  but wondering about the package they offered me...... its QR8000 only including everything. Being as elder in the family I have lot of responsiblities on my shoulder, adding to this I am married Having one kid.. Planning to move my family once I joined. Still some negotiation is going on with the company. Let them come with there final conclusion. I demand for free accomodation bcz the cost of living in Doha is rising very tremendously.

Will you guys help me to find out Does these much of package is enough to run the family in Doha... My primary priority is to give my carrer an international explosure.

Please suggest me and assist me on the same...

Thanks in Advance...

don corleone, you are very kind, thank you for the affection.

its always good to be neutral n calm and still make a point without offending anyone, i have learnt that once someone starts getting defensive it doesnt take long for it to get offensive. best is to avoid both by respecting the individual you are having the discussion with and keep it to the point yet subtle.

hope you all have a lovely weekend.

You could've mentioned the state or place where you came from instead of picking on Kerala. That shows somewhat of a complex towards kerala or maybe not? MOst of the people dont think india means kerala.

My Real Name is Amr .. but for foreigners it is difficult to pronounce .. when i was in egypt i worked with a canadian lady she was studying my name hard to pronounce it and at the end she decided to change my name to RAM ..actually i like it she just took the "R" letter from the end to the begining of the name ..that's why I called my self Ram .. and in computer language it stand for "Random Access Memory"

By the Way Amr in hindi means eternity too .. but i'm totally Muslim and Egyptian ..

You got it .. I hope so cuz i know that my english is too bad n i really need to improve it ..

just curious Ram, you mentioned you are muslim, what does ram mean because in hindus its their god, first i thot u are a indian, then again ram is the sign of aries. so whats the deal or are you just using it as a short for the name Rami.

if what suhai is saying is correct, then quddus baby, you will be paying 6000 out of your basic just as house rent and you will spend the other 2000 on bills.

what will you eat? air?

how will you manage your child and wife?

are u ready for sharing accomodation, people living independantly in india or your hometown wont like to live in sharing with anyone here.

you have to pay for food, car, telephone bills, your regular misc expenses, dont use the explanation that your wife can work too, she can work when she comes here and gets a job, until then you are the main actor in this entire drama, and dont expect anyone to help you because very sadly most asians are facing the same problem.

quddus you are mad to leave IBM and come to qatar to work for 8000, and that too for qatar airways.

people dont easily stick around in qatar airways, esp if you are the type to speak your mind out and not take crap lying down.if you are the suckup types you will survive but dont know if you will be happy then.

8000 including everything is "bheeg" they are giving you. you will regret coming here for that much amount n u say you have an extended family to care for.

Where do you work right now?

what job have they offered you here if you are working as a software engg in india?

engineers with a few years experience can easily ask for 8000basic salary everything else paid by the company.

I know of many people who have refused the specific offer from Qatar Airways because their offer was low. Moreover they said they will NOT be providing accomodation. They have been trying to fill this post for more than a year. I suppose they got luck with you. Wish you all the best.

Mind you most probably they will "NOT" give you accomodation. SO with that salary it will not be easy for you to survive unless you want to put your family in a cramped living condition. You say you work for IBM India, then why would you want to destroy your career coming over here. SInce ou have already made up your mind theres no point in trying to convince you.

If you think getting a few air tickets is beneficial then think about the taxes and other expenses that come along with.

Mr. Quddus,

It seems that you had already made up your mind prior to posting on this website regarding coming to Qatar. I have absolutely no idea why you made this posting and wasted time of so many people when you had already made up your mind. No matter what everybody has written (basically telling you not to come on this package), you are stilling insisting on coming.

Initially I thought that Tyler was somewhat harsh with you in writing what he wrote but now I think he was completely right. You were not looking for any suggestions/opinion. You could have achieved whatever you wanted to achieve (apart from wasting other peoples time) by doing a search for the required information.

Thanks for such a usefull info, I agree brother that's true!!

Once you go away from your family then only you could miss them.

But "Wallahu Khairur Razikhin" Let see Allah's decision. Bcz if my food is there in Doha no body can stop having it!!

I have lot of relatives in Doha as well as freinds dear, but the thing is that some of them are very busy in there work or someof them doesn't know about the field. They said its good to come alone let see if you can do some part time as well. My wife is basically from a christian family and she adopted islam she is having some teaching experience too,Is it possible for her to get a job in school for 1st or 2nd class students or can we plann for a children seating care business ?? Because I have a family Visa.. But initially I am coming alone and planning to call my family after 6months.

Respected Brother,

This salary is not enough and not depend upon their verbal promises. Before coming Doha, i was working in Australian's BHP Petroleum in my own country's project but i decided to come for the same reason International Exposure,I join QP,Yes i got that Exposure, and a few dollers increase in my salary BUT i am extremely missing my home, my mother and the rest of family members (my spouse & kids are with me)

Life in Qatar is not easy, specially working with Locals

Don't think that on relegion basis, you will facilitate

If i have a Life Reverse Button, i'll prefer to go back in previous days and change my decision.

You can email me for any assistance.

Salam & Regards

QR 8000 is too low to survive and live a reeasonable life in Qatar. If you want to live the same standard of living and save the same amount of money as you are doing in India then you may come but 8000 is very low considering this is lumpsum package. What about medical coverage, schooling, transportation etc. It is better to live alone (without family) in this salary.

Actually I dont know much about the technical panel people in my team, It could be possilble once I reached to Doha. But inshallah they will be ready to provide accomodation or a good hike in the package.

What do u think brother Do I take this opportunity? Bcz there are lot of other benefits which is realted to my Airways tickets and family benefits.

Hey welcome man, yes like you mentioned doha is not a cheap place its actually becoming crazy the prices of some things, but it all comes down to your lifestyle, your expenses and all that. You can make it on 8000 amonth many people and families do that, but you will need to manage your expenses very well, how's your transportation situation? why doesnt qatar airways help with your accomadation? If your paying rent and transport yourself then maybe you can expect a struggle.

When you relocate to a new country its basically a math equation you have to do, How much you earn minus how much you spend, because your goal should be to save money right? not live paycheck to paycheck?

Try to squeeze more out of Qatar airways, or at least ask other employees who have a similar job how they are managing, where they are living and all the details.

Look around the forum as any question you may ask is already answered. You may have to spend some of your time doing a little research on the site but it would be far better to ask an informed and pointed question vice asking individuals on the forum to do the work for you.

I truly hope your professional work ethic exceeds your personal one or QR 8000 will be far too much for your work.

Hmmm- which personality is coming out today?
