24 hours a day Book Shop/Cafe
By munozchick •
So I was thinking the other day about how there is really only one great bookshop in Qatar that I know of. Jarir is a very nice book store and the only big one I've seen here. Also, I've noticed in almost 3 years of living here that this is sort of a "late night" country. Also, education has become a huge priority here. Then I got to thinking...I wish someone would open a 24 hour bookshop with a cafe included. Something like a Barnes & Nobles or Borders.
Dear Ivanhoe,
Good news - Magrudy's from Dubai is set to open in Doha soon. They are the leading bookstore chain in Dubai and are looking for a competent bookseller to run their first franchise outlet in Qatar. Please do get in touch by emailing me at [email protected].

I wish they would too - I used to be a manager for Borders and would like a decent job here. Anyone know of someone with startup capital and a large vacant shop?
By the way which are the bookstores available in doha? can someone give the address
u kick start a 24 bookstore like those 7-11......i am the first one that hopping in.
Hope springs eternal. I just cannot understand that a country which boasts one of the world's leading broadcasters doesn't even have a decent bookshop. Jarir is ok if you want self-help books, cookery books or chick-lit, but it's useless otherwise.
I mean, how exactly are journalists working here meant to research for any serious topic when there are no facilities available for buying books? It's absurd.
I think we should just rush a Starbucks and take it over. Who's with me? Arf arf
That's a great idea - and hopefully a bookstore with a bigger range than Jarir!
