Yes , I remember those beautiful days at Richards Bay. We were five families about 20 of us, drove all the way to HuleHule games resort. We were very lucky to see a lot of animals which included, deer, giraffe, rhino, crocodiles, lots of bird, Wild bore ans so many others.

Thereafter we reached at the top of the hill where was one restaurant and nearby that there wire fire grills set up for Barbe que readily available. We had carried the charcoal and all necesary food to be cooked.

Braai is actually making Barbe que meat, vegetables and so many other things. The entire cooking was done by we men folks and the women relaxed. A very nice way of telling them we love you and care for you. Actually in South Africa, Braai is cooked by men and women relax.

Lots of Castle beer flowed, we had some Southern Comfort, sang songs and really had fun. Drove a good 500 kms. All had fun.

Now only the memories are still fresh in the mind.

Oh how I miss those lovely days.

And now in Doha. Missing all the life.

Cheers

rajeev

Hey beauty_crafts

Am here in Doha since 10 days only, but i feel that it is near to years..

I feel that I am in a big prison, since I don't have a car yet, no taxi services especially in the aria where i am living cause it is a housing area and far away from center of Doha!!

i have some friends, I go with them and spent some times but nothing make you feel that you are good, yesterday I spent more than 1 hours looking for a taxi to go to the city center, I called the moasalat company at the hot line, they ask me to wait for 40 mints to have one available

Really it is very bad, the services also very bad every thing close between 1-4, and after that it is closed from 8 pm

i don't know if we just can go to shop just on Saturday, cause it is the available day per week which you can do shopping in Doha

Any way I want to thank you for your idea and any one can send me email at [email protected]

Thanks and good luck at the Desert Rose city

I don't know who Michaela is, but I will now have to find out which hotel this is and... well you know... move in! :-)

I'm actually a British citizen though my mother is Zulu, hence my South Africanness.

My singular purpose in life is now to find this hotel.

I know Tendai.....

Isn't that just such an awesome word to hear...... the next best word is boerewors..... I hear that one of the hotels around here has a recipe and makes it often..... Maybe call Michaela at the South African embassy and ask her.... she did tell me, but I have forgotten and haven't had a chance to ask her again....

Kerry, unless you are true South African or from that region, you won't know that word. A braai is the S A word for a BBQ.... but as the word is different, so is the whole "ambiance" of the function.....

BBQ's I have had here, are very dull and boring.... with a few of those small mutton chops and some chicken kebabs.

A real S A braai, has a grid laden with a wheel of boerewors(sausage) a really thick one..... steak, decent mutton chops with lots of fatty pieces(not those one bite thingys)..... pork rashers..... or chops, whichever you prefer..... potatoes and onions placed in tinfoil and baked in the fire... or (my potato bake), or a potato salad..... tomato/onion/cheeze toasted sarmies on the fire or a big garlic and cheeze bread...... meilie pap and tomato/onion sauce or bredy if you are South African/ a big greek salad with tons of feta......

I had better stop... starting to lick the computer screen......lol....

Hope this makes you hungry.... very, very hungry....

Hey guys, for the new people in Qatar, QA has a section in his web site called Discover Qatar, they offer excursion packages for minimun 3 or 10 persons, the prices are not bad, i would love to go cause i been here for 5 months and never been in any of those places yet.

By Xena• 23 Oct 2006 19:15
Xena

You said the magic word........

Please, please pretty please can we organise a braai.... but in the true sense of the word...... Not a bbq most people in this country seem to think is so great...... Once they have experienced a good old typical S A braai.... BBQ's will never be the same again......

I will make the potato bake i make so well.....

Keep me posted....

I've been here nearly 3 weeks now and I swear, I'd pay to be in morgue cos I imagine I'd find more life there than here right now. In fairness though, of course this isn't the best time to judge Doha's liveliness so I'm really looking forward to Eid, if only because it ISN'T Ramadan so hopefully there should be a change in the atmosphere and pace of things.

"is it easy to get visa for countries around ?like Musqat, Dubai ,Bahrian etc..asian expats i mean ...just a 24 hour trip could be a huge change and fun."

That depends on your profession as specified on your Residence Permit (it's printed in arabic). I know, as an engineer I can get an on-arrival visa at all GCC countries. Get in touch with your companies P.R.O. for clarifications.
