78 Corvette Stingray
Hi ppl..
i own a 1978 chevy corvette stingray, its got a few minor mechanical problems. i am slowly fixing each of it but its taking a hell lot of time as the parts for this car is lets say almost non-existant so i have to settle for scrap parts..
my baby inspite of the mechanicals faults still packs the punch, and i want to get her in top condition asap.
Would anyone out there know any garage which specilaises in fixing classics like mine?
i am attaching a pic of my sweet love on four wheels.
anyone with any kind of info plz help me out
Thanks all..
JC
yup..i'm from Malaysia.....the car looks good, any modification?espicially on the engine and suspension...
SuperXpat, i agree with u.....for your overheated case, i will change the mechanical cooling fan (On the radiotor) to electrical cooling fan to get more cooling during traffic jam and remove the air pre-heater (intake system) that normally install for continental car...but normally by changing the radiator fan should be enough....anyway its must be little bit difficult if no expertise for old mini car at doha if u want to do that
I don't have a Mini Cooper here in Doha. I'm driving a crappy Aveo with ultra-thin 155 tyres on R14 wheels (or smaller)! It sucks! I can now afford a new Mini, but I'm against them ideologically. I mean, they're great cars, strongly built like BMWs, but they made the old Mini withdraw and the whole philosophy of a Mini as a classless, affordable car's now gone. If I had an old Mini here in Doha, I'm quite sure she'd get overheated almost every day, especially in traffic jams and red traffic lights!
i cant seem to be able to attach the pic of my friends satria GTI so i will create a new post titled satria GTI for the viewing your viewing pleasure..
so akina are you from malaysia??
Hey superXpat.. thats a nice ride you have back home.. dont give her away. she's really unique, rust can always be taken care of but a beauty like her comes by only once in a lifetime. So do u have Mini cooper here now?
cheers

I hope I'll make it. The issue's that the Innocenti factory used recycled steel from Eastern Europe for the cars it produced (mostly Mini Cooper and its derivatives, such as the Clubman), with a more limited life. Really, a better thing for me to do's to use my current Mini as a donor (it hurts even writing about it) and buy a stronger one! Thank God now I earn more money than in Greece, and I can afford a better British-made Mini Cooper.
SuperXpat...keep your mini alive, in Malaysia that's car worth around RM 10k to RM35k (QR more or less equal to RM)....a lot of fan club and of course a lot of expertise on mini...
anyway radezine...your car is dammed beautiful.....keep it up bro, something rare to find like this is extraordinary...exotic car if i can call it that..
wah...is it true there is 8 satria GTi at doha, impressive!...anyway if u say that satria GTi can outrun EVO, so that u should try Satria GTi R3...R3 is the uprgade model of GTi, 20hp increase, lighten body (970kg) superb handling and cornering ability.....maybe i can tell R3 ppl to export a few GTi R3 to doha...cheers
Yes, I'm interested in cars, and particularly interested in classic cars, especially form the 70s, but I can't claim to be an expert yet! I want to get deeper into cars someday.
My only experience with working on cars is limited to my first car, a '79 Mini 1000cc (from the Italian ''Innocenti'' factory). She used to break down every week or so, and quite often I was able to fix her on the spot, given directions through the mobile phone, because her engine was quite simple. It was great fun to drive, it felt like being in a go-cart...unfortunately now she's in the back yard of my dad in Greece, and although her motor starts first time after months if idleness, her back wheel arch's starting to rust (typical for Minis), and I guess she wont't be drivable soon (unfortunately)...
My other car in Athens's nothing fancy because i can't afford somenthing expensive(just an Opel Corsa 1400cc 16v 90HP), but a 100th anniversary special ''sports pack'' edition. A good thing about her's her suspension (yellow Bilstein shock absorbers) and her tyres (I no understand why cabbies in Athens chooses Toyos, they're durable, and neither very hard nor too soft).
Anyhow, I'm hanging on to receiving pictures of your 'Vette after some further work.
I wish you a very nice weekend.
Are you interested in cars? i and my friend are so crazy about cars that we often say we have petrol in our veins. Our present cars are pretty modified too.. i drive 2003 mitsubishi galant fully done up and my friend a 2002 Proton Satria GTI (there are only 8 of these in doha and this babe can put a Mitsubishi evo to shame)
The pic i have attached is my baby as of now. she is now gone in for upholstery and interior works(i am doing up the shole interior) this should take max a week after which she will again go into the garage for some minor works on the clutch (she is a 4 speed manual) and rear diffrential.
I will send in a pic as soon as my babe is fully ready to go.. just that i dont know how long it will take. I am planning on getting her painted as well but i have put it on hold bcos i want a really good immaculate paint job done and thats gonna cost me atleast 15,000 QAR if i do it at the porsche dealer, have you fainted???? ( the high cost is bcos they will dismantle the whole body of the car and paint each individual piece and the result i have seen in some cars is simple amazing...)
do keep in touch, have a great weekend
Take Care, GOD bless

Unfortunately i can't be of much help to you, because I don't know about garages in Qatar...
All I can tell you's that your 'Vette's a real beauty. I wish you'll make an excellent job with its restoration and I do hope the good job that you'll do won't prove that expensive.
Can I ask you a favour, to send me some of her pictures now & at a later stage of her restoration?
Nice car. Good Luck.
