IT Salary within QP

Hi,

I wonder if somebody might be able to give me a steer on IT salary rates within QP.

I have been offered a position and I am just waiting for the terms and offer to be pulled together.

I work in a very specialised area of SAP development and would potential be moving to QP on permanent position from the UK having been contracting in a very buoyant market for the last 4 years.

Any help or guidence on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Danie;

Unless a company gives you a no-objection letter when you resign, you cannot come back to Qatar under a different sponsorship for 2 years. Most companies won't give a no objection letter because it cost a lot to hire the employee.

It is very difficult to know, what you would be working on, or who would be your colleagues, horizontal or vertical.

I have been recently involved with that department re the implementation of the plant module. This is what I learned. Most of the “real development is done by an outside single source Consultant. QP in-house staff handles, the preparation of Client requirements and so on to be handed over to the Consultant, and later on, the training of other staff for the proper use of the software. According to one well informed source, there is a strong protectionist feeling by an ethnic group who, as usual, do not know much about SAP.

If you are a “designer-developer, it is much more interesting to work for a Consultant, rather than the “end-user, and spend the rest of your life organizing endless training campaigns.

My suggestion for you or for any other serious contender is : invest in a 4 day visit do Doha, jump in a plane, come on down to see it for yourself, then take a personal decision. You will not regret having done that. Good luck !

If you're in a buoyant market, I'd be careful leaving to come work for QP. As I'm sure you know, the Qatar market is also very active, so I would be very selective on the company you come work for and the package you agree to. Once here, you typically can't move to another company.

In QP salary is different for different persons, Good oppertunity for SAP, but you cannot switchover the job within Qatar, and in coming days good companies are coming in GTL business. QP Package is not too much better as compared to international market, just think before coming here, for more details you can contact
