Al-Samirya Gardens and Car Question
By Around in 80 Days •
Hello, I just received my address in Doha. My wife and I have a two bedroom villa in Al-Samirya Gardens. Dring my interview I stopped by this compound and loved it. Very new and nice. Anyone here in the compound?
Also, I was pretty confused as I was driven around Doha and could never get my bearing. Is Al-Samirya Gardens close to shops, restaruants etc? I think it was close to some new sporting complexes but I don't remember.
Finally, I'll be receiving 1800QR per month for my auto allowance. I'd like to get a used (2004+) Toyota Four Runner or BMW X5. Does that seem doable?
Thanks,
Eric
Around,
Samrya is in a good location. It off of Salwa Road so you can get almost all over Doha quickly. If you head straight down Salwa you pass (Restaurants) Al Mirgab St. and Sadd Street. If you like American food there are Fast Food Joints and Ponderosa as you go down Salwa towards City Center.. Salwa also leads you into the Souq Area.
When they finish the road construction and the Doha Games. It should be better. It is pretty quiet though.
You being a BMW man you may be upset the Mercedes dealer is on the corner though :-). Also the Fortuner is the a jazzier Four Runner. It is to me the same as the Lexus model but a little more body size. They want too much for the Toyotas here. There is a fixation with Toyotas so the prices are ridiculous.
Act your age not your shoe size
There aren't any Qatar members on the site.
Glad to meet another aficionado who knows these sharp machines are about more than posing.
I had an X5 for a while. Then someone scratched the hell out of the 2 front doors, fenders and hood; fixed it and sold it.
Drop me a line if you need anything.
Good luck.
Thanks for the information. By the way, are you a member of e46fanatics.com ? They have a huge Middle East section under regionals. I'm a member of the BMW Car Club of America since I track my Z3. I was happy to see your sig. We'll look for a 2003 or 2004 X5 since my wife and I both love the truck and I'll be missing my Z3.
There aren't any 4-Runners in Doha. I think I've only seen a couple in many years here.
You can get a new Toyota Prado for that money or the closest to a 4-Runner, a Fortuner.
You might get a 3.0 X5 for that budget but banks here don't finance cars older than 3 years. Also this is the end of the road for the current version of the X5 so if you buy one now expect to lose quite a bit of money.
