Car insurance in Doha

Heya,

Was wondering what the insurance policy for cars in Qatar was like. In the UK for example if you work with a company and use one of their cars under their name would the insurance be covered under the umbrella of the company's insurance.

Sorry for the very dull questions, but this website is great for straight to the point answers.

Hope all is well. and many thanks for taking your time out to answer my query.

Thank you dweller. I checked that thread on salaries, but could not find nothing specific. And i know there are some salaries surveys but i hoped that i get the ranges without having to pay for agencies.

I would appreciate if anyone can give me links or contacts for salary surveys or studies.

Thanks

Just to add,

The additional charge for passengers are Qr.50/- per head, but does not cover family members.

This is bl..dy stupid, I paid Qr.250/- additional per year for 5 passengers on top of the full insurance, only to find after 9 years that the cover is for non family members only.

Dumb me.

Hey Steve, Thanks for the response,

Was wondering whether you could give me the details of the insurance company (Name, number if possible) just so i understand the policies that are applicable over there.

Thank you for all your help you've all been very kind !

I think you will also find that "fully comprehensive" car insurance differs from other countries. It does not cover the passengers. You need to take out personal insurance cover.

Here in Doha at least, I know that it is the vehicle that is insured not the driver as it is in other countries. SO, if you rent a car your spouse, children, and anyone with a valid driving license may operate that vehicle. At least that is what my rental agent has led me to believe.

EmanA,

there is a thread on salaries. I suggest you use it.

From the little information given, I sense that you have no experience in salary surveys. They ARE available but tend to be on the expensive side.

If your company are serious I suggest that they either buy one or commission one.

Hey Angelique Bevan,

Company car ? ! now it's the company's problem to sort all of those issues like insurance, paperworks etc.

As long as you are sponsored by same the company, there is absolutly no problem. You shouldn't drive a car owned by other sponsor company other than a rental firm, as you will face trouble if there is any accident/traffic checking etc. You don't need to worry at all, you just take care & drive them safely. Lot of reckless drivers around. Most of the company's car is fully insured.I hop i have cleared you query.

Hope u remember me !!
