Sports bars and Cable TV

Hiya folks!

My wife and I are just about to head out to Qatar - I recently accepted a work placement in Doha. Quick question: are there any sports bars that show English premiership games? Are there dedicated footy channels on the cable TV offering? I'm a huge Manyoo fan and buggered if I'm going to live anywhere that I can't watch live matches. Tongue out Of course, the wife could give a fying fluck so no sympathy there..

By the way, this site has been fantastic in helping us prepare for our impending emigration so congratulations and thanks to all the regulars for your unwitting support.

Think he is more annoyed about doormen now or was it the fact he gets turned down by them??? lol :D

e46M3 sorry to be harsh but that is boll0x.

It is not that fancy and compares unfavourably to most clubs in the world in my opinion and yet the drinks are considerably more expensive.

Furthermore read the qatar edition of timeout magazine and you will see that the doorman is generally regarded as a complete ****

You can bring all your electric/electronic gizmos, no probs there and your plugs will fit in the sockets here with no need for adapters.

DO NOT bring sexual aids or you will be Raptus regaliter, but not necessarily with them.

Sorry, Sorry Super. I myself am not one to admire scantily clad women...unless they're really hot ;). I will make sure to wear my t-shirt Daisy Duke style the next time I go out though.

Considering the money that's gone into the place prices seem about right. We've never found the doorman arrogant or had any problems with him.

DG told me

it is 240 volts and the plugs are the same shape as Uk

I have my xbox here.

Most DVDs here are region 2 but there are a lot of region 1 too so most players in country converted to multi region.

Dildos are always confiscated

Everything here uses UK sockets, so you can bring all that stuff if you want. Don't toss pork into your bag inadvertently, granted I got through customs with ham this last time round, but sometimes they check.

hold on there DG. I'm all about the scantily clad. There is plenty of room for that in a sports bar too. I'm thinking hipster jeans and t shirts tied up dukes of hazzard/hooters style

...folks. I really was starting to have nightmares about this.

While on the subject of footy and watching it.. is it worth bringing my lads toys like my telly, xbox and audio stuff? I'm not clear if the power sockets output 240v like the UK system, and also if the TV system is Pal?

Apart from booze, is there anything else we need to be careful NOT to inadvertently toss in the luggage?

isn't that the reason to go out to look like an idiot oh yeah we do not mean to!

Don't forget scantily clad women. I like a place where I can wear jeans and a t-shirt and drink pints and not have to worry about being forced to shake my booty on the dance floor like an idiot.

Well I think that Pearl has cornered the market in pretentiousness, expensive drinks (corona bottles at QR35) and arrogant doorman so hopefully the new amigos will go the peanut shells on the floor route

I hope that they make it more sports bar/pub cause there are enough crappy places to go dancing in this city. I think it should be the kind of place where you can throw peanut shells on the floor.

I have heard that Amigos which is now owned by the Dana club is being developed into a giant sports bar. If they do a good job of it it should be awesome as it is a massive place

I think they show them in the Ramada too.

You can also get an ART card for your satellite receiver, costs about $200 I think. You have your choice of English commentary too.

Up the Hammers!

Garvey's, Rydges, Palobma's and I believe Rugby Club all show premiership...as for Cable, I don't know.

Garveys have most of the games on and is the nearest thing we have to a sports bar
