We were in Turkey last summer...cheap pensiones, cheap efficient buses get you around the country. Went from Istanbul-Konya-Goreme_Istanbul. Get the "Lonely Planet Guide" to Turkey, and make sure you get yourself out of the typical tourist trap of only going to Istanbul / Bursa!

...and watch out for the Gypsies in Taksim Sqaure of Istanbul...they will try and distract you, and while you're busy talking to them or turning to buy bird seed from them, their mates are robbing you !

Looks like you are doing the whirlwind tour of Europe miz4ever :) Enjoy. 15 days won't be enough though...Honestly I don't think you can get through the whole Louvre in 15 days. Just look at this tour as a preview for when you get to go back and see everything again!

Paris is beautiful and Italy will knock your socks off.

You cannot beat Turkey, we are here full time!

A friend of our son is cycling on a push bike from Istanbul (he visited us in March) to Thailand via China.

Anyone interested can check his progress on www.roddo.net as he is writing a blog with photographs (when he can get internet access).

He is currently in Iran and hopes to be in Bangkok for Christmas.

No wonder they're so mean eh, it would be like teething every year.

I'm just surprised you saw one in Ontario, I thought the only thing you could see in Ontario was people from Toronto, and nobody in Canada wants to see them. :)

I saw real moose oot and aboot. Asked the owner of the cabin where the ones with horns were - who'd've thought they grow all that every year!

By dohagirl• 29 May 2006 14:50

We usually call them dogs, cougars or cows when referring to unattractive females in Canada. A moose is big mean stupid near sighted deer like thing (though twice the size). You would defintely know if you were in a hot tub with one of those. ;)

Mj, I recommend East Coast Canada especially Newfoundland or Banff in the Rocky Mountains. Beautiful spots (especially Banff). And it's an awesome time of year for hiking and canoeing and all that stuff. If you go to Newfoundland than there is still a chance to see ice bergs near Labrador, and you'll see whales and moose for sure.

Yes Riy!

I know a south african family here and they told me about it. A friend of mine visited S.Africa and said that it was wounderful.

But I'm not sure if I can go or not ... it depends!

Everything from the best beaches for surfing (durban), best hiking trails (drakensburg), largest game parks (kruger national park), shopping (johannesburg)... You name it & you'ff find it here!

really going to miss it when i move to doha :-(
