For newbie investor, stat shows most of them are afraid ro invest in stocks. Solution is, study and learn before jumping in this kind of investment. Its a high return high risk venture, so invest only how much you can afford to risk.

it is so funny to read comments of people who have no idea about stock market and stock valuation.. my advice... stay out of it unless you know exactly what you are doing.. instead by some property... and get some capital gain and/or rental income... or reduce your debts (if any)

Here is the core strategy for prudent investment in stocks:

1. See the overall index level, is it at peak point as compared to its previous history (two/three years ago. Do not investment if current level is higher and vice versa.

2. Do not buy for quick selling purpose

3. Buy only low value yet high potential stocks for long term gain. e.g. Vodafone stock, its original price is Qar. 10, whereas its current is lesser than it (Qar. 9). Buy 10,000 shares and hold it for three years when its price is expected to be Qar. 50 owing its huge potential and patronage by the Govt as well as customers.

4. Other than the above never enter the stock trading business, as it can ruin your savings.

I invested in stock market 5 years before and I neither lose nor gain anything. Its waste of time because Qataris buy share from bank(QNB for only Qataris) at cheap rates and once it reaches in the stock market their prices become more bcz qataris have invested in it and thus minimizing the profit of those(expats) who r buying from stock market.Based on my experience its not worthy at all.

Stay away, the rules of the game is not as you think. I did not invest in it, and I do not regret it. There is an arabic stock forum, but it is all about speculations.
