Mobile Plans and Home Broadband
I am preparing for my move to Doha but I am not there yet. Planning for everything in transition. I come from Singapore and I unsure how the mobile phone plans work in Doha.
Is it correct to say that Qtel or Vodafone, you pay for the postpaid plan and thats it, it doesnt come with a free mobile phone ?
Thus, does it mean it would be advisable for me to bring my Samsung S4 and my Samsung Tab 7 to Doha, prescribe to a postpaid plan and just insert the SIM card in my current phone ?
Or am i missing something here that maybe some of you guys can help me out with. I have gone to the websites of Qtel and Vodafone but cant seem to find "phone+plan packages", it seems more like "buy phone+plan" package instead.
ps ; In Singapore, you sign up for a Postpaid Plan including 3G ard 300 QR equivalent and you get to choose a FREE Samsung S4 with the package.
Great advice Max11,
Thank you, I will stay away from Vodafone then, and I will lookup the combo unless the apartment provides FREE internet.
Normally everyone is taking the TV-Internet-Landline combo deal which makes a lot of sense. As for the speed i would say 40-60.. 40% of the time you would get the actual speed and 60% of the time less...
But its getting better so just be patient and am sure you will get used to the things in Doha.
I would suggest to stay away from Vodafone as they are having lots of issue in terms of connectivity and pricing. Go for Ooredoo which is more stable and the connections for GSM / 3G are much better. Plus they wont cheat you like Vodafone normally does.
I wish you good luck and welcome to Qatar.
Thank you for the great advice.
I wanna leave no stones unturned so I have to make sure.
Yes i will bring all my electronic gadgets i guess. Probably get some new stuff here in Singapore and bring them over.
I saw an offer at Qtel which is similar to what I am used to here in Singapore ... being, TV+Broadband+landline in a package deal. Now i dont know how reliable the connections are or whether the mbps speed is as promised, but it sure looks like a deal that makes sense.
Here in the Gulf it is different from Asian countries where you can get a phone with a postpaid plan.
Advise you to get all your electronics with you as its cheaper in Singapore than in Doha.
As for the internet, you will need to take a broadband connection (1mbps) is the standard here unlike Singapore (100mbps). Doha is still under going the fiber optic transition phase and only after that will the internet speed be upto international standards.
Thank you.
So what I read is as per how i understood them, i thought i was missing something.
bring ur tab n mob.. here its not like singi or uk :p
