Is birth covered immediately by insurance?

I am moving to Doha in September and am hoping to be pregnant by then, my husbands emploer is arranging out medical insurance with SEIB.

I wondered - will I be covered for the pregnancy and birth from the moment we take out the insurance policy? I had heard that some companies will not cover you for maternity until you have held the policy for at least two years!

I just really want my husband to be present at the birth so would need to use a private hospital.

I started my pregnancy with AXA and at 5 months, my husband's company switched all employees to SEIB. We didn't face any problems with the insurance coverage (for regular antenatal check ups, scans and delivery). Regards.

Did not they give you a booklet explaining cover, not cover and undercover with small stars on it.
