Shortage of Taxis in Qatar

Shula
By Shula

Why there are less number of taxis in Qatar as compared to UAE, Kuwait or Saudi Arabia. If you have no own conveyance, you canot survive here with family. While in other above mentioned countries you are easy and taxi is availble anywhere anytime. Here only in few malls, taxi is available. It is very difficult that you get taxi outside of your house in any living area? How Qatar will meet the requirement of new taxis for coming world cup? The high officials should think about it.

Why would you suggest that a fellow man like you, who seeks for his daily bread just like you be threatened?

No Ms. Sonya, you just have to call them ahead of time, the same day you need them.

I need TAXI for tom'w to pick my kid from the school cause my DRIVER (hired) has some personal things to look out for..I called KARWA to book for tom'w...And i got the reply: KARWAS are book for one week...really?

I am in dilemma whether to send my kid to the school or not..I hate to miss it but being no option i have to give my kid a REST for two days...

I've hardly traveled with TAXIS in doha..Though i used a lot when i was in DUBAI...It is true that TAXIS in DOHA are HARDLY available when you actually need them...It is not sure always that you will get THEM when you step out..Taxis in DOHA are not only in SHORTAGE but are UNCERTAIN too...

There is a lot of improvement as far as the availability of taxis in Doha is concerned. At times you never see a single taxi and ohter times they are available.

This is an issue. The only problem is that "private drivers" may not be insured in case of serious accident..

So be wary!

I am dealing with a private driver till i get my license

Honestly i pay 40 QR per day while with a taxi it takes around 20, but there are no taxis around.

U might be seeing lots of taxis in Doha but it gets worse on weekends when people are flowing in from other areas. Even Karwa drivers charge as they like.

Private taxis are restricted but u can find any one trusted and he can serve u on call whenever needed.

You can't find a single taxi when you want a ride.

But you can find them everywhere when you don't need them.

there will be a modern Qatar railways on 2022.

qatar will be interconnected by train even up to bahrain...not sure if they will push through up to saudi.

indeed the taxi here is minimal thats why you need to own a car.
